Fred Green claimed his fifth GB4 Championship pole position of the 2026 season after defeating championship leader Alex O’Grady in a closely contested Qualifying session at Snetterton.

The Elite Motorsport driver produced a 1m47.479s inside the final five minutes to beat O’Grady by just 0.075s for Race 1 pole. However, O’Grady responded through the second-fastest-lap classification, where his remarkable consistency earned him pole position for Race 2.

Thomas Ingram Hill qualified third on both classifications, while Dayton Coulthard and Conor Grant completed the top five. However, Ingram Hill and Enzo Hallman will both serve five-place grid penalties carried over from Silverstone.

2026 GB4: Snetterton: Qualifying: Green defeats O’Grady after late battle

Coulthard emerged as the early contender for pole after producing three laps inside the 1m48s bracket. The Douglas Motorsport driver remained at the top for much of the session before the leading championship contenders began finding significant improvements during the final six minutes.

O’Grady first displaced Coulthard with a 1m47.841s, but Green responded one minute later to move around a tenth clear. Their battle continued as O’Grady reclaimed provisional pole with a 1m47.572s before Green delivered the decisive lap with three minutes remaining.

Green’s 1m47.479s ultimately secured his fifth pole of the season by only 0.075s. O’Grady could not respond during the remaining minutes and settled for second, although he still finished 0.217s clear of Ingram Hill.

The Fortec Motorsports driver continued the strong pace he showed throughout pre-event testing by securing another top-three Qualifying result. However, his five-place penalty from Silverstone means he will not retain that position on the final Race 1 grid.

Coulthard leads closely matched midfield battle

Coulthard eventually took fourth after spending much of the session at the top, delivering one of his strongest Qualifying performances of the season. He finished 0.058s ahead of teammate Grant, who equalled his best GB4 Qualifying result in fifth.

Pace Performance’s Torrin Byrne followed only 0.040s behind Grant in sixth, also matching his best previous Qualifying result. Meanwhile, Thursday testing pacesetter Hallman secured seventh for Hillspeed, 0.090s behind Byrne.

Hallman will also serve a five-place grid penalty carried across from Silverstone, affecting his starting position for Race 1.

Elite Motorsport’s Emmilio Valentino Del Grosso took eighth, while Friday testing leader Franciszek Cegielski finished ninth for Fortec. Pace Performance’s John O’Donnell completed the top 10, with only 0.893s covering Green through O’Donnell.

Connor Willis narrowly missed the top 10 in 11th ahead of Josh McLean and Jordyn Martin, while Matan Achituv and Archie Davies completed the leading 15.

2026 GB4: Snetterton: Race 2 grid: O’Grady’s consistency earns second pole

While Green secured the fastest outright lap, O’Grady produced the stronger second-best effort to claim Race 2 pole. The KMR Sport driver’s 1m47.572s was only 0.018s slower than his quickest lap of the session, demonstrating impressive consistency across his fastest two efforts.

Green’s second-best time came in at 1m47.734s, leaving him 0.162s behind O’Grady in the Race 2 classification. The Elite driver will therefore start alongside his championship rival on the front row.

Ingram Hill retained third in the second-fastest standings, 0.333s away from O’Grady, while Coulthard and Grant again occupied fourth and fifth.

Hallman improved one position compared with the outright classification to sixth, placing him 0.008s ahead of Byrne. Del Grosso remained eighth, while O’Donnell moved up to ninth and Willis completed the Race 2 top 10.

Cegielski dropped from ninth in the outright classification to 12th on second-fastest laps, behind McLean in 11th.
