2025 F2 driver Sami Meguetounif is undergoing his first season in the championship. Unlike his previous F3 experience, he is definitely still adapting to the perks and the quirks of his challenger.

A new challenge

The young French driver stepped up to F2 after a single Formula 3 season with Trident. 2024 had been a rather strong rookie campaign for the youngster who had begun his career in 2019. In fact, Meguetounif had achieved two Feature race wins and had ended the season in the overall top ten.

However, so far the 2025 F2 season has not been as kind to Meguetounif. In spite of the continuity he managed to keep by moving up with Trident, he has struggled.

He was only once in the points this year, scoring a P10 finish in Imola, right where he had achieved his first ever Formula win in the past season. The other side of his Italian weekend was the stalling which severly impacted his Sprint race. In fact, the young talent didn’t even manage to start from his starting spot in P16. After a forced pit lane start he ended the race dead last and still recovering from the delay.

As well as new hardships

Ahead of the Italian round, Meguetounif had been satisfied with his first three racing experiences in the F2 championship. Nevertheless, he was able to admit he had been hoping for more consistent results.

Monaco had been another difficult round for the Trident driver. There he had received a 5 seconds time penalty after the end of the race for speeding in the pitlane. 2025 F2 driver Meguetounif was also penalised after the end of the Monaco Sprint race, as he was caught not maintaining the appropriate delta behind the Safety Car, for a two by two on the same weekend.

So far, the Trident driver has shown promising signs, but, as per his own words, he has not managed to put all the elements together yet. Tyre management and qualifying have also both been tough for Meguetounif, with such challenges harshened by the great amount of penalties he has suffered from.

Apart from Monaco, Melbourne had been another harsh occasion for the Frenchamn. 2025 F2 driver Meguetounif had received a 10 places grid penalty following the rule breaking occured by Trident in the pre-season testing, even if the sensors in question had not been mounted on his challenger. He then went on to crash during the first Feature race of the season.

To sum up, this young talent at the back of the Formula 2 standings has not managed up to now to prove his worth in the same fashion he had done in his past F3 career, but there is still plenty of time to move up the standings and add more points to his tally!
