After incidents in Races 1 and 2 in Montreal, Chambers bounced back to claim her first win of the 2025 F1 Academy season. Race 3 finished under Safety Car conditions, after two prior Safety Cars in the Race. The Campos Racing driver, sponsored by Red Bull Ford, came away with P1. Meanwhile, Ella Lloyd tailed behind closely in P2, and Doriane Pin rounding out the podium in P3.

Misfortune across Race 1 and 2

Chambers started Race 1 from pole position, a spot she inherited from the weather-interrupted Miami weekend. However, during the race, officials waved the black and orange flag at her due to front wing damage sustained in a collision with teammate Palmowski, who was later found at fault. Despite the collision, Chambers continued on at the top, before this flag was waved. As a result, Chambers could only salvage seven points from Race 1, left wondering what might have been.

Unfortunately, her misfortunes followed her into Race 2, where a bold attempt to overtake Pin backfired, causing her to fall to P14. Despite her efforts, she ultimately finished outside the points.

Her first win of the season

In Race 3 at Montreal, Chambers crossed the line in P1, securing her first win of the 2025 F1 Academy season. After starting from pole, she led every lap with authority and, moreover, handled both Safety Car restarts with precision. As a result of this dominant performance, she firmly established herself as a Championship contender this season, rising to P2 in the standings. As she reflected on Round 4 in Montreal, she exclaimed that she was “feeling very good,” and furthermore, noted that there were “some positives” to take away from the weekend.

I’m feeling very good,” she said. “We got a decent amount of points this weekend, despite having two pretty low points scoring races yesterday. I think we really demonstrated that we have the perseverance to bounce back after a tough day yesterday.”

“It’s really unfortunate for the rest of the team to have some troubles this weekend. At least from my side of the garage, we have some positives to takeaway and then hopefully, the three of us can be back up there fighting again at the top in Zandvoort.”

Multiple Safety Cars in Canada

Chambers maintained her lead after two Safety Car restarts, along with additional pressure from Lloyd throughout the whole race. With just three laps remaining, the release of the third and final Safety Car ultimately sealed her maiden win in Race 3. She commented that she was “pretty comfortable” throughout the race, as she simply had to maintain her lead out front.

“I felt pretty in control today,” she stated. “It was a little bit difficult with so many Safety Cars, so (we were) going and stopping and going and stopping a lot. Not a super stressful race actually.

“I felt pretty chill, to be honest. It was an eventful race, not for myself, but for others. I felt pretty comfortable the whole time.”

Chambers emphasised that the plan she created for the first Safety Car restart was so successful the first time, she had to recreate it for the second restart. The American had hoped the race would restart after the third Safety Car, feeling confident she could maintain her lead.

“I had a plan for the first one and that plan worked very well, so I decided to just do the same thing again and it worked.

“I was ready to go for a third time. It’s a bit of a shame that we didn’t get to race as many laps as we did in the other couple of races. In the end, the racecraft was good on my side, the pace was good and I think the team just really has the car in a good spot right now.”

20 points difference between Drivers’ Championship leader and Chambers

Chambers’ Race 3 win, combined with Maya Weug’s challenging weekend, has moved the Red Bull Ford driver up to second in the F1 Academy Drivers’ Standings. The American now trails championship leader Pin by just 20 points. While Chambers admits she’d prefer to be closer, she believes the gap is still very manageable.

“Doriane’s got quite a points lead currently,” She continued to say, “20 points is totally doable. I would like to be closer to Doriane in the Standings and I know it’ll be a tough fight to the end.

“When you think about it in the grand scheme of things, that’s one good race weekend and one poor race weekend for her away from taking the lead in the Standings. There are still three race weekends left in the year, so plenty of opportunities to do it.”

The 2025 FIA F1 Academy Championship will return for Round 5 in Zandvoort over the 29th-31st of August, with action sure to return with it.
