The second GB3 Championship round of the 2025 season at Zandvoort saw Patrick Heuzenroeder and Alex Ninovic join the roll of honour as new pole winners in 2025.

In Qualifying 1, Xcel Motorsport’s Heuzenroeder delivered a lap of 1m30.041s. As a result, he not only set a new qualifying lap record at the time, but also secured his first GB3 pole with a margin of almost four tenths of a second. However, in Qualifying 2, Rodin Motorsport’s Ninovic responded immediately. By lowering the benchmark further to 1m29.894s, he earned his maiden GB3 pole position in a closer session, finishing just under a tenth clear at the front. Consequently, both drivers proved that the Australian contingent had the pace to dominate the weekend.

Both drivers received a trophy and £300 as part of the Jack Cavill Pole Position Cup, with the season’s leading qualifier also awarded £2,000 at the finale. At present, Hillspeed’s Freddie Slater retains the overall lead thanks to his double pole at Silverstone.

In addition to this, Heuzenroeder further underlined his pace by claiming the Sunoco Fastest Driver of the Weekend Award. The Australian posted the quickest racing lap of the Zandvoort event, a 1m31.824s in race one, where he stormed to victory by over six seconds.

The Hitech TGR of Deagen Fairclough came closest to denying him, within 0.026s, but Heuzenroeder’s consistency proved decisive as he also set the fastest lap in race two.

In a nod to the Dutch setting, GB3’s fuel partner Sunoco presented him with a one-off Sunoco Clog on the podium after Sunday’s final race.

To complete his weekend of accolades, Heuzenroeder also secured the Omologato One to Watch Award at Zandvoort. With 64 points scored across the first two races, the Australian was the top performer, adding a prestigious timepiece from GB3’s Official Timing Partner, Omologato Watches, to his growing collection of silverware.

The award, now in its second year, celebrates standout performers at each round. Freddie Slater won at Silverstone, while last season’s recipients included John Bennett, Tymek Kucharczyk and eventual champion Louis Sharp.

A strong weekend for Heuzenroeder and Ninovic

Impressively, between his maiden pole, first win, and three separate awards, Patrick Heuzenroeder emerged as the standout star of Zandvoort. Furthermore, with Alex Ninovic also breaking through to claim his first pole and victory, the Dutch weekend belonged to the Australians – a statement of intent for the remainder of the GB3 season.
