Arrow McLaren announced progress on a $30 million expansion of the Andretti facility the Indycar team acquired earlier this year. They had been operating out of the shop inherited from their previous incarnation as Schmidt Peterson Racing. Arrow McLaren will move in to their new building in early 2026.
In a statement released by the team, they highlighted the significance to the team’s advancement and their commitment to Indianapolis. “Arrow McLaren’s focus on innovation and technology in their racing components and facility align with city and state priorities to empower the future economy.”
A win for the local economy…
Jim Schellinger, president and CEO of the Indianapolis’ economic development arm Indy Economic Development, expressed excitement at the move. “Arrow McLaren has reinforced their choice of Indianapolis as a place to grow and thrive. Indy Economic Development is committed to partnering with this global racing leader on bolstering our innovation and motorsport economy.”
Likewise, Indiana commerce secretary David Adams praised the development. “When high paying companies like Arrow McLaren invest in Indiana, it’s more than growth for one team- it fuels jobs, innovation, and momentum across the state.”
…and hopefully leading to more wins on track
The full plans are to expand the building to 86,000 square feet (approximately 7,990 square meters). This will dwarf their current facility, measuring at 33,000 square feet (approximately 3,606 square meters). The extra capacity is necessary for a team that has advanced from more humble roots and surroundings to being an arm of one of motorsport’s most successful and well-equipped entities.
Arrow McLaren president Kevin Thimjon said the more expansive space “will enhance the work experience for our team members but also showcase the impressive motorsport history and ambitions that is rooted within McLaren Racing.”
“We want our team, partners and fans to be proud of our new home, and when we open our doors at the beginning of next year, I’m confident this space is one we’ll all be excited to call ours.”
