Rodin Motorsport’s Alex Ninovic extended his advantage in the Jack Cavill Pole Position Cup at Silverstone, securing his first qualifying double of the 2025 GB3 season.

The Australian, who had already earned single poles at Zandvoort, Spa and the Hungaroring, added two more to his tally at the home of the British Grand Prix. In the first session, he was three tenths clear of Reza Seewooruthun, while in Q2 he narrowly edged Deagen Fairclough by just 0.126s.

As a result, Ninovic now leads the standings with five poles, three ahead of Hillspeed’s Freddie Slater. However, Slater is only due to compete in one more round at Brands Hatch, which makes a comeback highly unlikely. Therefore, Ninovic could seal the Cup at the next event if he adds further poles to his total.

In addition, Ninovic also collected £600 in round trophies, presented by John Cavill, son of Jack, who has supported young drivers in MSV series since 2013. The overall winner will secure £2,000, and the team of the winning driver will also claim an identical prize.

Jack Cavill Pole Position Cup standings

  1. Alex Ninovic, Rodin Motorsport – 5 poles
  2. Freddie Slater, Hillspeed – 2 poles
  3. Patrick Heuzenroeder, Xcel Motorsport – 1 pole
    =. Kanato Le, Hillspeed – 1 pole
=. Keanu Al Azhari, Hitech TGR – 1 pole

Sunoco Fastest Driver of the Weekend: Ninovic doubles up

Ninovic also claimed his second consecutive Sunoco Fastest Driver of the Weekend Award, once again underlining his raw speed.

After setting a lap record at the Hungaroring, he returned to form at Silverstone with a 1m53.672s flyer in race two. Significantly, this lap was around a tenth faster than efforts from race winner Keanu Al Azhari and Hitech teammate Deagen Fairclough. Moreover, Ninovic’s time was set despite a mid-race pit stop to repair damage sustained in a clash with Fairclough at Brooklands.

Meanwhile, Reza Seewooruthun was the only other driver to top the timing sheets, recording a 1m54.559s effort in race three. Consequently, Ninovic’s back-to-back awards keep him alongside Freddie Slater as the only drivers with multiple Sunoco honours this year.

  • Silverstone – Freddie Slater, 1m52.802s
  • Zandvoort – Patrick Heuzenroeder, 1m31.824s
  • Spa-Francorchamps – Freddie Slater, 2m15.048s

Al Azhari named Omologato One to Watch

Keanu Al Azhari’s breakthrough Silverstone GB3 weekend earned him the Omologato One to Watch Award, becoming the fifth different driver to claim the accolade in 2025.

The Hitech TGR driver delivered a career-best performance, finishing third in Saturday’s opener before storming to his maiden GB3 victory on Sunday morning. His 59-point haul from the first two races gave him the edge over Patrick Heuzenroeder, who scored 46 points across the same period thanks to a second-place finish in race two.

The Omologato prize, awarded to the highest scorer across the first two races of each event, highlights standout performers. Al Azhari joins Slater, Heuzenroeder, Ninovic and Pradel as recipients this year, adding his name to a list that in 2024 included John Bennett, Tymek Kucharczyk and eventual champion Louis Sharp.

Omologato One to Watch Award winners, 2025

  • Silverstone – Freddie Slater (70 pts)
  • Zandvoort – Patrick Heuzenroeder (64 pts)
  • Spa-Francorchamps – Alex Ninovic (59 pts)
  • Hungaroring – Gianmarco Pradel (59 pts)

Conclusion to a thrilling weekend

Silverstone delivered more than just thrilling racing; it reshaped the award standings. Ninovic consolidated his dominance in both the Jack Cavill Pole Position Cup and the Sunoco Fastest Driver of the Weekend stakes, while Al Azhari’s maiden victory and consistency made him Omologato’s “One to Watch.” With Brands Hatch up next, the balance of speed, form and opportunity continues to keep the 2025 GB3 season wide open.
