Rodin Motorsport’s Formula 3 cohort has completed what Team Manager, Sam Waple, describes as their most successful season yet. After taking a win in the final round in Monza, Rodin’s finally points tally of 128 points, landed them P6 in the Championship Standings.
A strong lineup for a strong season
Rodin’s 2025 season was full of point scoring weekends, and podium finishes. Despite only taking a win in the final round with Bilinski, Waple takes pride in the season.
“We always want more, of course we do, but we shouldn’t forget that it was our most successful year in the current FIA F3 format. So, from our side, we are very happy.”
Two out of three Rodin drivers, Voisin and Bilinski, scored podiums for the team across the 2025 season. Despite this, Sharp took points on three seperate occasions. Waple acknowledged just how pleased he has been with the current lineup. Even though there were missed opportunities, he noted that his team did well.
From the get go, all three drivers were strong, notably, even before arriving at the circuit. The bond between the three was strong, only growing stronger throughout the season. This allowed the car development to continue smoothly, with all three drivers working together.
Strong camaaderie between drivers not to be undervalued
Waple noted that the camaraderie between the drivers is something that cannot be undervalued. Rather, it is an incredibly important component. He further added that the 2025 dynamic is something he aims to recreate every season.
“They were all capable of podiums and regular point scoring, but I think the competitiveness of the championship this year has been at an all-time high, I’d say. We’re very happy with them. I think there were opportunities that sort of slipped away, that could have been even better, but they all did a great job this year.
“The three of them instantly got on. You could tell that even from before we were at the circuit. They instantly had a good connection, and that only grew during the year. Working together and developing the car and the team, and it takes a team effort, and the way that they work together, and the fact that they remained really good friends through it made the environment and atmosphere within the team really strong.
“You can’t undervalue that, I think that it’s incredibly important, and I’m not sure how I’ll be able to do that again. I’d really like to be able to replicate it each year, and maybe I will, but it did feel like quite a unique year. They were great characters and well-liked by everyone.”
A new car and change in performance
This year’s season of Formula 3 has seen the introduction of a new car. Many would put that down as the change to Rodin’s performance, Waple disputes this. The difference in performance from mid 2024 until the end of the 2025 season showed the capability of their drivers.
“It would be easy to say, ‘Oh, look, new car, they’ve got on top of that, and that’s the change.’ But I actually would disagree. From the mid-part of last year onwards, we showed that we had a capability of winning races and scoring regular points. And I think that came from a slightly different mindset to how we go about the weekends.
“It was nice that we could carry that momentum on from the last car into the new one. I felt we had the groundwork in order to then deliver with the new car. Then we started running with it.”
Waple noted the effort that has gone into steering the team away from the non-competitive F3 reputation they hold. Over the winter break the team has worked incredibly hard, with all that hard work quickly shown from day one. He added the immediate comfort they felt within their 2025 challenger.
Performance to be proud of
The improvement in the Rodin Motorsport F3 team outfit is something the team is very proud of. It has been a whole team effort, with work created at their highest standard. This has resulted in Rodin being able to compete with higher level teams.
“We have worked incredibly hard to try and move the team on from the sort of reputation in F3 that hasn’t been particularly strong. The amount of work that was put in over winter was massive. And I think that really showed almost from day one in the Barcelona test. We immediately felt quite comfortable with the performance that we had, and that didn’t seem to fade too much.
“It’s something that the whole team can be very proud of, because it takes everybody involved to work at their absolute highest standard to be able to compete at this level with all the other teams that are also incredibly talented as well. I think that it’s hats off to everyone involved to push it on, really. And it’s so nice to arrive at weekends with the expectation to win rather than just the expectation to circulate, you know. So, it’s been a great step forward.”
Some more work needed, but progress possible
While a lot of testing has been completed, Waple adds that there are still some aspects that need ironing out. The aim remains to be competitive in every round, ensuring there are no unforeseen errors. Waple would like to continue moving up the Teams’ Championship standings, adding there is no reason they can’t continue moving up the grid.
“There’s lots of testing to be done. We still need to iron out some things to make sure we’re competitive at every round, we like to make sure that we don’t leave any stones unturned, and make sure that there are no unforeseen errors.
“We just want to keep the trajectory going and moving up the Teams’ Championship. There’s absolutely no reason why we can’t continue to move up the grid. Everybody is focusing on going forward and looking in the right places. I think we’ve got all the ingredients to do that.”
