Trident Motorsport has announced Kai Daryanani as its latest driver for the Formula Regional Middle East (FRME) Trophy and the Formula Regional European Championship (FREC). The Middle East series begins this coming weekend at Yas Marina, marking Daryanani’s first competitive outing with the Italian squad.
The 20-year-old Indian racer will line up alongside Andrija Kostić and Maximilian Popov. Daryanani replaces Luka Sammalisto, who Trident initially named as part of its driver line-up.
An impressive career in single-seaters
Born on 12 April 2005, Daryanani has progressed steadily through the junior ranks under a British racing licence. He achieved a major breakthrough in 2024 when he won the Formula Trophy UAE, claiming his first championship title after a season that included victories and multiple podiums at Yas Marina.
That same year, he competed in both the British and Italian Formula 4 championships, continuing his development after earlier campaigns in the UAE, British, South East Asia and GB4 series, where he claimed his first single-seater victory.
Daryanani made his Formula Regional debut at the 2024 Macau Grand Prix with Evans GP, gaining valuable experience on one of motorsport’s most demanding circuits. He then contested the full 2025 Formula Regional Middle East Championship with the same team.
His move to Trident signals the next phase of his career, with the team set to field him in both the Middle East series and the Formula Regional European Championship. The upcoming weekend at Yas Marina will mark the beginning of that partnership as Daryanani targets strong results on a bigger stage.
Strong 2025 season builds momentum
Daryanani enters the Formula Regional programme on the back of a competitive 2025 campaign. He raced in the GB3 Championship with JHR Developments, where he secured two podium finishes: second place at Budapest and third at Silverstone. He ended the season 11th in the overall standings.
Alongside his GB3 commitments, he also contested two rounds of Eurocup-3 with KCL by MP, further expanding his experience in high-level junior single-seater competition
A new chapter
Daryanani expressed his enthusiasm for the new chapter in his career as he steps up with Trident. He said, “I’m extremely proud to be joining Trident for the upcoming Formula Regional season. I’m excited to work closely with the team to push myself and fight for strong results. I’m grateful for the trust they’ve placed in me and can’t wait to get started.”
