Lionspeed GP has confirmed its return to the GT World Challenge (GTWC) Europe Endurance Cup for the 2026 season with a three-driver line-up aboard its #89 Porsche. The German squad will build on the momentum it established over the past two campaigns as it continues to expand its presence on the GT World grid.

The team made its series debut in 2024 with a single-car Endurance programme before broadening its effort in 2025 by adding two Sprint entries. That expansion delivered immediate results. Bashar Mardini and Bastian Buus secured the Bronze Cup runner-up position in Sprint, while the team finished second in the overall Bronze Cup standings across the full season.

Bashar Mardini returns to the squad and will make his Endurance Cup debut. The Canadian steps up after playing a key role in last year’s Sprint success and now prepares to tackle the longer format for the first time.

He will share the Porsche with Alex Fontana, a highly experienced GT World competitor whose résumé includes five titles across the Silver Cup and Pro-Am categories. Fontana brings proven endurance expertise and knowledge of the championship’s demands.

Team principal Patrick Kolb will complete the trio, continuing his dual role for a third consecutive season. His presence ensures continuity and leadership within the squad.

Mardini expressed confidence in the new combination. “I’ve already raced with Alex before and we’re a very good pairing,” commented Mardini. “We did a GT Open race together in Monza and we won it very convincingly. We have some good testing in mind. I think we’re going to be more prepared this year than I was last year at this time.”

Fontana also welcomed the opportunity. “I have a few titles there in Pro-Am and Silver Cup, but it’s been a few years since I’ve done the full Endurance season,” said Fontana. “Lionspeed is a benchmark team in SRO competition, especially within the Porsche world. Therefore it’s really nice to join this combination in the highest level championship with one of the best teams out there.”

The #89 Porsche will retain its distinctive red, white and blue colour scheme for the new campaign. Lionspeed GP may confirm additional entries before the 2026 season begins at Circuit Paul Ricard on 11/12 April, following the official Prologue on 8/9 April.

With an experienced trio and strong recent form, Lionspeed GP now prepares to mount a renewed challenge in the Endurance Cup.
