FP3 at the 2026 F1 Barcelona-Catalunya GP got underway as Mercedes F1’s George Russell topped the final practice session of the weekend, full results below.
On Friday, Russell topped the timesheets in FP1, while Lando Norris led the way in FP2. As the final practice session got underway, teams focused on finalising their setups and gathering as much information as possible ahead of Qualifying later today.
It was reported that McLaren had broken curfew overnight to carry out additional precautionary checks on their cars. However, as the final hour of practice got underway, there was no significant rush to leave the pits, with only the Cadillac drivers heading out on exploratory laps before heading back in.
Overnight, it was also reported that Alpine broke curfew to carry out a chassis change on Pierre Gasly’s car after the team identified discrepancies in their data. Among the frontrunners, Norris headed out on a set of soft tyres, setting a benchmark of 1:16.609.
As the session passed the halfway mark, much of the field appeared to be focusing on single-lap runs, with Russell, Kimi Antonelli and Norris completing the top three. Losing the brake pedals out of Turn 9, Valtteri Bottas beached his car in the gravel. Red flags were soon waved to retrieve his car.
On the final laps of the session, a frustrated Antonelli backed off from his lap after encountering traffic. However, as the session came to an end, Russell topped the timings once again.
