After Dunne claimed pole for Feature Race 1, the Formula 2 (F2) field had another 20-minute Qualifying session at the Azerbaijan GP, to decide the grid for Saturday’s Feature Race 2.
Câmara leads after first runs
The green light came on, and the drivers headed back out for the second Qualifying session of the Azerbaijan GP weekend.
Gabriele Minì hit the front early with a 1:55.479, but several drivers behind him soon found more time. After the first set of laps, Rafael Câmara went quickest with a 1:54.227, ahead of Noel León and Dunne.
With the opening laps complete, the track position games began again as drivers searched for a tow around Baku. A short yellow flag then came out for debris.
Rodin lock out Feature Race 2 front row
Câmara held provisional pole after the first runs, ahead of León, Dunne, Nikola Tsolov and Laurens van Hoepen, as several teams weighed up whether to save tyres for the races.
Campos parked León after his strong first lap, while Oliver Goethe and Minì struggled to improve for MP Motorsport. Ritomo Miyata and Joshua Dürksen both moved into the top ten as the order shifted late on.
Maini then jumped to second with help from a tow, before Mari Boya delivered a strong lap to take P2 for PREMA. But Rodin struck back in the final moments.
Dunne first moved to provisional pole, before teammate Martinius Stenshorne went quicker to take pole for Feature Race 2. Rodin locked out the front row once again, with Stenshorne ahead of Dunne and Câmara third.
