The 2026 GTWC America powered by AWS returns from its summer break at Road America from 28–30 August, with a strengthened 24-car field ready to tackle the fifth round of the 2026 season.

After visits to Sonoma, COTA, Sebring and Road Atlanta, only three events remain on the calendar. The championship now heads to Wisconsin before completing its campaign at Barber Motorsports Park and Indianapolis Motor Speedway, increasing the importance of every remaining points opportunity. Road America’s 6.477-kilometre, 14-turn layout provides the next test as the Pro and Pro-Am title fights remain closely contested.

Several new and returning entries will also expand the grid. HP-TECH Motorsport and Scuderia Corsa join the championship, while Triarsi Competizione and Chicago Performance and Tuning Co. return. The provisional entry list features nine manufacturers across the Pro, Pro-Am and Am classes.

Stephens and Grenier defend narrow Pro lead

JMF Motorsports’ Michai Stephens and Mikael Grenier enter Road America at the top of the Pro Drivers’ standings with 78 points after four rounds. Their No. 34 Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO has scored consistently throughout the opening half of the season, including overall victory at Sonoma.

However, only eight points separate them from the No. 12 AF Corse USA Ferrari in second. Matías Pérez Companc remains part of that entry at Road America, but Miguel Molina replaces Frederik Schandorff alongside him. AF Corse arrives with momentum after winning the Pro class at Road Atlanta and sits on 70 points in the Teams’ Championship.

Turner Motorsport remains close behind on 67 points with Justin Rothberg and Robby Foley. Their season already includes the overall Sebring victory, although a difficult Road Atlanta weekend interrupted their momentum. Road America therefore offers BMW an opportunity to return to the form that placed the No. 29 crew firmly in championship contention.

Ford and Porsche remain firmly in Pro fight

Dollahite Racing sits fourth among the Pro teams with 53 points, only one clear of McCann Racing. Cameron Lawrence and Alex Sedgwick have repeatedly shown front-running speed in the Ford Mustang GT3 EVO but still seek their first victory after a difficult Road Atlanta outing cut their most recent race short.

McCann Racing’s Michael McCann Jr. and Zachary Vanier complete the five-car Pro field at Road America in the No. 8 Porsche 911 GT3 R. With only 26 points separating first and fifth, the three-hour Wisconsin race could significantly alter the championship picture before the final two events.

The Pro battle also forms part of a larger manufacturer contest. Mercedes-AMG leads Porsche by 29 points in the Global Manufacturer Championship, 766 to 737, keeping the two German brands at the centre of another important fight as the season resumes.

Washington and Sargent lead Pro-Am battle

GMG Racing’s Kyle Washington and Tom Sargent arrive as the Pro-Am championship leaders after building a strong first half of the campaign in the No. 32 Porsche. The pair have 77 Drivers’ Championship points, 12 more than Wright Motorsports’ Dave Musial Jr. and Ryan Yardley. GMG also leads the Pro-Am Teams’ standings with 80 points to Wright’s 65.

Road America represents an important opportunity for both crews, particularly with RS1 also remaining within reach. Jan Heylen returns in the No. 28 Porsche but gains a new teammate in Danny Dyszelski, who replaces JP Martinez for Round 5. RS1 sits third in the Teams’ standings on 53 points despite a difficult Road Atlanta event.

Meanwhile, JMF Motorsports enters with renewed momentum after Jason Daskalos and Mercedes-AMG factory driver Philip Ellis claimed overall victory at Road Atlanta. Ellis returns alongside Daskalos at Road America, giving the No. 27 crew another opportunity to build on a result that moved JMF into fourth in the Pro-Am Teams’ Championship.

Expanded Ferrari presence adds new contenders

Ferrari brings five cars to Road America, including two notable additions to the grid. HP-TECH Motorsport will make its GTWC America debut with Tony Davis and Scott Andrews in the No. 04 Ferrari 296 GT3 EVO, with Davis stepping up from his GT America programme to compete in Pro-Am.

Scuderia Corsa also joins the championship with Mitchell Green and Jon Morley in the No. 67 Ferrari, adding a second Am entry alongside AF Corse USA’s Jay Schreibman and Benny Simonsen. Schreibman has dominated the Am Drivers’ Championship to this point, scoring 100 points across the opening four rounds.

Triarsi Competizione also returns after missing Road Atlanta. Sebastian Mascaro and Riccardo Agostini resume their Pro-Am campaign in the No. 18 Ferrari, while the No. 12 AF Corse entry’s switch to Molina gives Ferrari another experienced factory driver in the Pro title battle.

Chicago Performance and Tuning Co. returns for home event

Chicago Performance and Tuning Co. makes its first GTWC America appearance since the season opener at Sonoma, with Nicolai Elghanayan and Mads Siljehaug returning in the No. 64 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2.

Although Road America sits across the state line in Wisconsin, its proximity to the team’s Chicago base gives the event a home-race feel. The team has spent the summer refining its programme after building the Lamborghini in only five weeks ahead of its GT3 debut at Sonoma.

Road America now gives the operation its second event of a planned three-round campaign, with Indianapolis also included later in the season. The team will look to turn the lessons from Sonoma into a step forward against an increasingly deep Pro-Am field.

Porsche brings largest manufacturer presence

Porsche accounts for eight of the 24 entries, giving the marque the largest representation on the Road America grid. In addition to championship leaders Washington and Sargent, the manufacturer has entries from McCann Racing, Kellymoss, RS1 and Wright Motorsports spread across Pro and Pro-Am.

Kellymoss brings three cars to its home state, including Todd Parriott and Riley Dickinson in the No. 13, Michael Clark and Colin Braun in the No. 017, and John Gilliland and Loek Hartog in the No. 88. Wright Motorsports adds the No. 242 of Therese Lahlouh and Thomas Merrill alongside Musial and Yardley’s No. 31.

Porsche’s depth could also prove significant to its Global Manufacturer Championship pursuit. With only 29 points separating it from Mercedes-AMG, strong results across several classes could help close the gap during the final part of the season.

BMW, McLaren and Aston Martin look to build momentum

BMW brings three cars across the Pro and Pro-Am categories. Alongside Turner Motorsport’s championship-contending No. 29, Riley Technologies fields Slade Stewart and Andy Lee, while Random Vandals Racing continues with Derek DeBoer and Hampus Eriksson.

Archangel Motorsports enters the weekend after its strongest result of the season at Road Atlanta. Todd Coleman and Aaron Telitz brought the No. 69 McLaren 720S GT3 EVO home third overall and second in Pro-Am, moving the team to seventh in the class standings.

Rebel Rock Racing also continues its first GTWC America campaign with Frank Depew and Robin Liddell in the Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 EVO. The duo has steadily accumulated experience since joining the championship and will target another step forward at Road America.

Corvette joins diverse 24-car field

The official entry list also features Chouest Povoledo Racing’s No. 50 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R for Ross Chouest and Aaron Povoledo in Pro-Am. Its inclusion takes the field to 24 cars and nine manufacturers.

The depth of the grid adds another variable as the championship enters its decisive phase. Cars fighting for individual class titles will also have to negotiate a larger field, while the mix of established contenders and partial-season entries creates greater potential for outsiders to influence the points available to the championship leaders.

Road America weekend schedule

GTWC America begins its Road America programme with a 90-minute test session at 08:05 local time on Friday, followed by Practice 1 at 17:00. Saturday features Practice 2 at 10:55 before the final practice session at 14:25.

Both 15-minute Qualifying sessions take place on Sunday morning, beginning at 09:10 and 09:30 respectively. The three-hour race then starts at 14:00 local time and runs through to 17:00.

Qualifying and the race will stream live through SRO RaceControl, the GTWorld YouTube channel and SRO Motorsports’ Twitch channel. With three events remaining, a larger field and championship fights still open across the classes, Road America begins the decisive final stretch of the 2026 GTWC America campaign.
