Ugochukwu extends 2026 F3 Championship lead after Silverstone Sprint win

Ugochukwu entered the British GP Sprint Race with 78 points and a 16-point lead over Slater. Starting from the front row alongside Yevan David, the American immediately came under pressure during the opening laps. However, he gradually moved clear once DRS became available.

From there, Ugochukwu controlled the race and crossed the line 17 seconds ahead of the field. Victory, along with an 11-point return, moved him from 78 to 89 points. As a result, his Championship lead increased from 16 to 23 points.

TRIDENT’s Slater still remains his nearest challenger, but Ugochukwu now holds his largest advantage of the campaign heading into Sunday’s Feature Race.

Slater keeps second despite Naël closing in

Slater limited the damage by finishing seventh in the Sprint Race. The TRIDENT driver added four points, increasing his total from 62 to 66.

However, Naël gained more ground after finishing third for Campos Racing. The Frenchman collected eight points and moved from 52 to 60, staying third in the standings.

Consequently, Naël now trails Slater by only six points. He also sits 29 points behind Ugochukwu, meaning the Campos driver has strengthened his position at the top despite Naël’s podium.

Strømsted moves ahead of Badoer into fifth

Strømsted continued his strong run of form by taking fifth in the British GP Sprint Race. The TRIDENT driver added six points, increasing his total from 41 to 47.

That result moved him from sixth to fifth, ahead of Badoer, who failed to score and remained on 41 points. Strømsted now sits only two points behind Bruno Del Pino in fourth.

Del Pino also failed to add to his total after finishing outside the points. Therefore, his advantage over the chasing pack has narrowed significantly, with Strømsted now firmly in range.

David and De Palo open their 2026 F3 accounts

David made the largest gain in the Drivers’ Championship after finishing second at Silverstone. The Briton entered the race without points but collected nine for his maiden F3 podium, climbing to 18th in the standings.

De Palo also opened his account with fourth place. The TRIDENT driver earned seven points and moved into 19th, one point behind David and one ahead of Brad Benavides.

Maciej Gładysz rose to 15th after finishing sixth and scoring five points, drawing level with James Wharton on 19. Meanwhile, Louis Sharp added three points for eighth, Fionn McLaughlin scored two for ninth, and Wharton collected one point for 10th.
