Reigning World Champion Oliver Rowland led the pack onto the track as the 30-minute FP3 Shanghai E-Prix session began. Drivers soon took turns posting the fastest laps, navigating the wet Shanghai International Circuit. Nico Müller briefly found his way to the top of the times before Sébastien Buemi managed to go quicker.

Jake Dennis returned to the Andretti garage moments later after reporting a strange noise on his car. Meanwhile, Wehrlein jumped up to the top, though he was soon knocked down as Buemi regained P1 with a strong time of 1:19.996. Attempting to complete a fast lap, Mitch Evans slid all over the wet surface, struggling to control his Jaguar TCS Racing car.

Despite the tough conditions, lap times continued to improve as Felipe Drugovich went 0.435s faster than Buemi.

Second half comebacks

At the halfway point, Drugovich led the field, with Buemi, Dan Ticktum, Wehrlein, and Zane Maloney behind. While drivers returned to the garages, Dennis finally made his way back out as Andretti fixed a rear drive shaft issue on his car. Despite missing out on crucial FP3 running time, Dennis stormed to the top, going 0.821s quicker than his teammate.

In the final 2 minutes, drivers took turns swapping the top spot, with Taylor Barnard setting a 1:17.548. Dennis continued to improve, briefly reaching P3 before dropping down the order as others improved. Taylor Barnard ultimately crossed the chequered flag first, with Pascal Wehrlein and Felipe Drugovich completing the top three.
