The 2026 GT World Challenge (GTWC) America powered by AWS season returned from its summer break for Round 5 at Road America, where repeated caution periods, contrasting strategies and mechanical problems once again reshaped the championship battles.
JMF Motorsports continues to lead the Pro standings through Michai Stephens and Mikael Grenier, but Turner Motorsport has closed to within four points after Justin Rothberg and Robby Foley claimed their second victory of the season. In Pro-Am, Dave Musial Jr. and Ryan Yardley have taken over the Drivers’ Championship lead after GMG Racing suffered an early retirement, while TR3 Racing surged up the order following Brayton Williams and Daniel Morad’s breakthrough victory.
Meanwhile, Jay Schreibman remains firmly in control of the Am standings despite Scuderia Corsa ending AF Corse USA’s perfect winning run on its GTWC America debut. Tom Sargent still holds a commanding SRO GT Academy advantage, while Mercedes-AMG retains the Manufacturers’ Championship lead despite BMW making substantial gains through Turner Motorsport’s overall victory.
2026 GTWC America: Standings after Round 5 (Road America): Pro: Turner closes to four points behind JMF Motorsports
Michai Stephens and Mikael Grenier remain at the top of the Pro Drivers’ Championship with 96 points after adding another second-place finish at Road America. The JMF Motorsports pairing started fifth overall and third in class before Stephens moved past Rothberg following a restart to put the #34 Mercedes-AMG directly behind the leading AF Corse USA Ferrari.
Grenier took over before the halfway point and remained firmly involved in the fight for victory as different strategies brought Dollahite Racing into the overall lead. However, Foley passed Grenier after the final sequence of stops and eventually pulled clear, leaving JMF to finish 4.363 seconds behind the winning BMW. Rothberg and Foley have consequently climbed from third to second with 92 points. Their 25-point victory was Turner Motorsport’s second Pro win of 2026 after Sebring and its first overall success since that Florida round. The result represents a significant championship recovery after mechanical problems prevented the #29 BMW from scoring more heavily at Road Atlanta, reducing its deficit from 11 points before the weekend to only four.
Matias Perez Companc drops from second to third on 80 points after a difficult end to an otherwise promising weekend for AF Corse USA. Perez Companc and new teammate Miguel Molina secured the team’s second consecutive overall pole, but the #12 Ferrari slowed after Molina took over and eventually required repairs behind the wall. It was classified fifth in Pro and collected ten points. Frederik Schandorff, who partnered Perez Companc through the opening four rounds, remains fourth on 70, while Molina enters the standings separately with the ten points earned at Road America.
Alex Sedgwick and Cameron Lawrence move to 68 points after securing third for Dollahite Racing. Sedgwick briefly led overall by remaining off-sequence during the final pit-stop phase before handing the Mustang GT3 EVO to Lawrence, who resisted late pressure from Zachary Vanier to preserve the podium. Michael McCann Jr. and Vanier follow only four points behind on 64 after finishing fourth in Pro.
In the Teams’ Championship, JMF Motorsports remains first with 96 points, but Turner Motorsport has reduced its deficit to four. AF Corse USA follows in third with 80, while Dollahite Racing moves to 68 and McCann Racing reaches 64.

2026 GTWC America: Standings after Round 5 (Road America): Pro-Am: Wright takes championship lead as TR3 breaks through
Dave Musial Jr. and Ryan Yardley have moved into the Pro-Am Drivers’ Championship lead with 80 points. The Wright Motorsports pairing entered Road America 12 behind Kyle Washington and Tom Sargent but capitalised on the championship leaders’ early retirement by finishing third in class and fifth overall.
Their podium came after a competitive final stint in which Yardley initially ran ahead of Morad before the TR3 Racing driver completed his charge towards victory. Despite losing that position, the 15 points gained were enough to move Musial and Yardley three clear of Washington and Sargent with two rounds remaining.
Washington and Sargent remain on 77 after their first non-scoring round of the year. The #32 GMG Racing Porsche was caught in a multi-car accident during the early stages, with Washington unable to avoid an incident unfolding ahead at the high-speed Kink. The retirement ended a run that had produced victories at Sonoma and Sebring and another podium at Road Atlanta. It also dropped the pair from the championship lead for the first time this season.
Jan Heylen climbs to third on 66 points following RS1’s runner-up result. Danny Dyszelski replaced JP Martinez at Road America and immediately helped the team return to the podium after its difficult Road Atlanta round. Dyszelski enters the Drivers’ Championship separately with 18 points, while Martinez remains fifth on 48.
Jason Daskalos sits fourth on 52 after finishing fifth in Pro-Am alongside Philip Ellis. Their result added ten points following the pair’s overall Road Atlanta victory, while Ellis moves to 35 from his two appearances. Therese Lahlouh and Thomas Merrill climb to 44 after finishing fourth for the sister Wright Motorsports entry.
The largest gain came from Williams and Morad, who move to 40 points after their first class victory of the season. Williams kept TR3 Racing in contention during the opening stints before Morad passed Yardley and Heylen in quick succession. When the off-sequence Chicago Performance Lamborghini made its final stop, Morad inherited the lead and controlled the remainder of the race to finish third overall.
Riccardo Agostini and Sebastian Mascaro move to 26 after adding eight points for Triarsi Competizione, while Derek DeBoer and Hampus Eriksson reach 14 after finishing seventh in class. Mads Siljehaug and Nicolai Elghanayan doubled their total from four to eight during Chicago Performance’s second appearance of the season.
The Teams’ Championship is particularly close. Wright Motorsports and GMG Racing are level on 80 points, with Wright listed first in the official classification. RS1 sits only nine behind on 71, while JMF Motorsport follows with 58. TR3 Racing’s victory moves the Mercedes-AMG team from ninth to fifth with 45 points.

2026 GTWC America: Standings after Round 5 (Road America): Am: Schreibman keeps commanding lead despite first defeat
Jay Schreibman remains comfortably at the top of the Am Drivers’ Championship despite AF Corse USA losing its perfect record at Road America.
Schreibman and Benny Simonsen initially controlled the class in the #163 Ferrari 296 GT3 EVO, with Simonsen running as high as 10th overall after the driver change. However, the car suffered a mechanical problem with just over an hour remaining and stopped at the side of the circuit, triggering another Full Course Yellow. They were still classified second in Am, giving Schreibman 18 points and increasing his total to 118.
Oswaldo Negri remains second on 75 after partnering Schreibman during the opening three rounds, while Simonsen moves to 43 through his Road Atlanta victory and Road America runner-up result.
Mitchell Green and Jon Morley enter the championship in joint fourth on 25 points after winning on their GTWC America debut for Scuderia Corsa. Their race included a drive-through penalty for incident responsibility, but the pair continued pushing and inherited the lead when AF Corse stopped. They ultimately finished ninth overall and took the class victory in their first GT3 endurance race together. Their successful debut at Road America ended AF Corse USA’s run of four consecutive Am wins.
Jay Logan and Marc Austin remain on 18 following their earlier appearance with MAD JOKER by Lone Star Racing. AF Corse USA continues to hold a substantial advantage in the Teams’ Championship, while Scuderia Corsa enters the table following its debut victory.

2026 GTWC America: Standings after Round 5 (Road America): SRO GT Academy: Sargent’s perfect run ends but lead remains substantial
Tom Sargent continues to lead the SRO GT Academy despite Road America ending his run of maximum scores.
The GMG Racing driver had collected 36 Academy points at each of the opening four rounds to reach 144 before the summer break. The early retirement at Road America limited him to 12, increasing his total to 156. Although his advantage has narrowed, he still holds a commanding 61-point lead with two events remaining.
Yardley strengthens second by adding 16 points to reach 95. His Road America performance helped Wright Motorsports take over the Pro-Am Drivers’ Championship lead and also increased his advantage over third-placed Vanier.
Vanier enjoyed an even stronger Academy round, collecting 22 points to move from 64 to 86. The McCann Racing driver pressured Lawrence throughout the closing stages in the fight for the final Pro podium and finished only 0.365 seconds behind the Dollahite Mustang.
Sedgwick makes the largest positional gain among the leading Academy contenders, scoring 24 to move from seventh to fourth on 57 points. His Road America performance included an extended spell in the overall lead while Dollahite Racing pursued an alternative pit strategy.
Lorcan Hanafin drops to fifth on 56 after not competing at Road America, while Hampus Eriksson reaches 44. Riley Dickinson sits seventh on 41, with Perez Companc moving to eighth on 37 after receiving the largest Academy score of the Road America weekend despite AF Corse USA’s mechanical problems in the race. Rothberg completes the standings on 25 following his overall victory.

2026 GTWC America: Standings after Round 5 (Road America): Manufacturers: Mercedes-AMG retains lead as BMW climbs to second
Mercedes-AMG remains at the top of the GTWC America Manufacturers’ Championship with 96 points after another strong weekend across its Pro and Pro-Am entries.
JMF Motorsports supplied the marque’s highest-scoring result by finishing second overall and in Pro, while TR3 Racing secured the Pro-Am victory. Mercedes-AMG consequently adds 18 points to its championship total and maintains an 11-point advantage heading into the final two rounds.
BMW M makes the largest gain and climbs from fourth to second with 85 points. Turner Motorsport’s overall victory provides the maximum 25-point score, moving BMW ahead of both Porsche and Ferrari after entering Road America 18 behind Mercedes-AMG.
Porsche drops from second to third despite another strong Pro-Am weekend. RS1 finished second in class and Wright Motorsports third, with Porsche adding 15 manufacturer points to move from 64 to 79. The marque now sits six behind BMW M and 17 behind Mercedes-AMG.
Ferrari falls from third to fourth on 75 after both AF Corse USA entries encountered mechanical problems. The Pro Ferrari still collected ten championship points after being classified fifth in class, while Scuderia Corsa’s Am victory provided another strong result elsewhere in the field.
Ford increases its total to 52 through Dollahite Racing’s Pro podium, while McLaren reaches 41. Aston Martin follows on 30, ahead of Lamborghini on 16 after Chicago Performance returned to the championship and scored in Pro-Am. Corvette remains ninth without a point.

Championship fights intensify before Barber
Road America has significantly tightened several championship battles with only two rounds remaining. JMF Motorsports still controls Pro, but Turner Motorsport has reduced what had been an 11-point deficit to only four after its second victory of the season. AF Corse USA remains within range, although the driver change from Schandorff to Molina means Perez Companc now stands alone in third among the team’s drivers.
Pro-Am experienced an even larger change. Washington and Sargent arrived with a 12-point advantage but leave three behind Musial and Yardley after their early retirement. Wright and GMG are also level at the top of the Teams’ Championship, while RS1 sits only nine points further back. TR3 Racing’s breakthrough victory has brought Williams and Morad much closer to the leading group after a difficult opening half of the year.
Schreibman still possesses the most comfortable class advantage despite suffering his first defeat of the season, while Sargent remains well clear in the GT Academy even after his perfect scoring streak ended. Mercedes-AMG also continues to lead the manufacturers, although Turner’s Road America victory has moved BMW into a much stronger second position.
The championship now heads to Barber Motorsports Park for the penultimate round from 25–27 September, where the remaining title fights could tighten further before the season concludes with the Desder Indianapolis 8 Hour in October.
