The 2026 GT World Challenge Europe (GTWC) powered by AWS season continued at Monza with the second Endurance Cup round of the campaign, adding another dramatic twist to the overall championship picture. After Brands Hatch opened the Sprint Cup season, the championship returned to long-distance racing at the Temple of Speed, where a chaotic three-hour contest reshaped several title battles.

Monza delivered one of the most unpredictable races of the season so far. HRT Ford Performance had claimed a landmark overall pole position, but its hopes of converting that breakthrough into a race result ended in first-lap chaos. Several front-running cars were caught in the Turn 1 incident, while others lost ground through damage, mechanical problems or late-race contact.

Tresor Attempto Racing emerged from the disruption with a surprise overall victory, as Ariel Levi, Sebastian Øgaard and Rocco Mazzola took both the race win and Silver Cup honours in the No. 66 Audi. Winward Racing finished second and strengthened its position in the overall standings, while CSA Racing completed the podium after a remarkable recovery drive from 41st on the grid.

With Monza counting towards both the overall championship and the Endurance Cup, the standings now show a clearer split between the Sprint and Endurance title fights. Winward Racing leaves Monza still leading the overall Teams’ standings, while Lucas Auer and Maro Engel remain at the top of the overall Drivers’ championship. In the class battles, AF Corse now leads the overall Gold Cup standings, Team WRT remains ahead in Silver Cup, and Kessel Racing has moved to the front of the Bronze Cup.

Monza reshapes the Endurance Cup picture

After a chaotic second Endurance Cup round at Monza, the 2026 GTWC Europe championship picture has become far more complex. The Temple of Speed delivered a race defined by first-lap chaos, disrupted strategies and major missed opportunities for several front-running teams, but it also rewarded those able to survive the damage and execute cleanly across the three hours.

Winward Racing leaves Monza still leading the overall Teams’ standings after strengthening its position with another major points finish. Lucas Auer and Maro Engel also remain on top of the overall Drivers’ standings, with Luca Stolz close behind after another strong Endurance Cup result for the Mercedes-AMG contingent.

The class battles have also shifted sharply. AF Corse now leads the overall Gold Cup standings, while Team WRT continues to hold the overall Silver Cup advantage despite Tresor Attempto Racing’s breakthrough Monza victory. In Bronze Cup, Kessel Racing has moved to the top after a strong Endurance Cup showing, putting pressure on Rutronik Racing and Paradine Competition.

In the Endurance Cup specifically, Winward Racing has taken control of the overall Teams’ standings, while Maro Engel, Lucas Auer and Luca Stolz lead the Drivers’ championship. Garage 59 remains ahead in Gold Cup, Tresor Attempto Racing has surged to the top of Silver Cup, and Kessel Racing now leads Bronze Cup.

With the Sprint Cup standings unchanged after Monza, the separation between the overall, Sprint and Endurance battles is now clearer. Monza added momentum for some, costly setbacks for others, and another layer of unpredictability to a season that is already proving difficult to control. As the championship moves on from the Temple of Speed, the title fights remain open across every category.
