Campos Racing’s Nikola Tsolov is one of the most talented drivers on the 2026 F2 grid and is at the top of his game. Team Principal Adrián Campos Jr shared that he would love to see the Bulgarian driver on the F1 grid.

Since making his single-seater debut in 2022 where he won the Spanish F4 title in his rookie season, he has made sure that he is on top of his game. The Bulgarian driver went on to spend three seasons in F3, where in 2025, he finished Vice-Champion with two victories and four podiums.

In November 2025, Campos Racing confirmed that Tsolov would step in for Pepe Martí at the final two rounds of the season, as the Spaniard departed for a full-time seat with CUPRA KIRO in Formula E. He left the audience stunned when he claimed a podium finish in his second F2 weekend.

In 2026, Tsolov has continued to impress, amassing six victories and 141 points in a remarkable rookie campaign so far. With his dominant sweep in Silverstone, he became the first-ever driver in the championship’s history to claim three consecutive wins in a row and now leads the Drivers’ Standings.

Campos Jr. astonished after Tsolov’s quick comeback during Silverstone round

Less than a week ago, Tsolov took over the championship lead from Gabriele Minì, who entered the weekend with a 2-point gap to the Bulgarian. At Silverstone, the Red Bull Junior swept the floor with an outstanding performance. He won both the Sprint and the Feature Race, with a brilliant comeback.

Adrián Campos Jr was hugely impressed by Tsolov and the team, as they haven’t been successful here in the past. He applauded the performance that turned the tables after a frustrating start to round 7 of the 2026 F2 campaign.

“I’m speechless, to be honest, I would never say that this was going to happen here. Because in the past, maybe not with Isack [Hadjar], but the last few years, we struggled quite a lot here, he shared.

“It was probably our weakest race weekend that we were expecting for this year. And it turned into the best in terms of results.

“We thought that we were going to suffer a little bit, and that’s what happened in Free Practice. But the team managed to turn around the situation, and I think today we were the quickest out there.”

The Bulgarian driver achieved a roaring pace of 199.180 km/h at the F2 British Round with Campos Racing, finishing his weekend as the fastest during the Feature Race.

Campos Jr proud of Tsolov’s F2 path, hoping to see him in F1 in the future

Campos Jr didn’t expect at the beginning of the season to fight for the title with their new driver. Therefore, he explained that he is more than impressed by Tsolov’s determination and skill, admitting that it is all on the Bulgarian driver that makes the difference.

“He’s the one making the difference. We are doing what we need to do properly. We are giving him a good car, but he’s the one making the difference. He does everything so easily, and that is surprising everyone.”

With that being said, Campos Jr. turned to Tsolov’s possible future. Multiple drivers in F2 are in the eyes of Formula 1 teams, debuting in FP1s over the course of the season. So far, the Bulgarian driver hasn’t had the chance to partake. Campos Jr. shared that he hopes to see the Bulgarian driver on the F1 grid in the future.

“And to be honest, I really hope that he gets a chance in F1. He really deserves it.”

Expecting to remain highly competitive for the remainder of the season

The next race weekend of the 2026 F2 championship is at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. Between rounds, they have had some time to review the data from the previous weekends to enter round 8 just as powerful. Campos Jr explained that the team wouldn’t go easy on their game as Tsolov is leading the championship, but would give their best.

He explained that winning every round is extremely hard and that this isn’t a mindset the team should have. However, he hopes the team will make the title race interesting and stressful for their opponents.

“I mean, I think we have been fighting for the win every race weekend. So I expect the same, at least. I know that we cannot win always, obviously, that is very difficult. But we will be strong and we want to be, let’s say, at least a pain in the ass for everyone else!”
