Mahindra’s Nyck de Vries is approaching the final double header of the 2025/2026 Formula E season in London with a positive mindset. The Dutchman, who took the victory of the last leg of the Tokyo racing weekend, definitely hopes to carry over into the British races the strong momentum from the Asian rounds. However, he admits he doesn’t believe the round to hold a particular value compared to his previous wins.
Although his gap to championship leader Jake Dennis is not insuperable, who is fifty two points away, de Vries doesn’t believe himself to still be in the battle for what would be his second Formula E title.
In fact, he explained in the media pen that, while he is definitely hoping for a strong performance, he will not regard the upcoming round in any particular way, or bank on the off chance of a title.
“Feels good, I don’t consider ourselves to be really in contention, but mathematically obviously it’s still possible. We approach it like every other weekend, ultimately the points are equal across the season and this is just another race weekend part of the championship.”
“Hopefully we can have a consistent, solid weekend with both cars and do a good job for the team and enjoy a good finishing position.” De Vries added, hoping the best for his teammate Edoardo Mortara too, who has been showing promising pace, especially in Qualifying, but wasn’t always rewarded with the podium position he deserved.
New challenges await de Vries after the Formula E London E-Prix
The Mahindra driver also discussed the progress made by his team on the new Gen4 Formula E car, set to debut in the upcoming Season 13. De Vries reckons that similar performances like his last time out in Tokyo won’t be possible, but that he will, nevertheless, aim and work towards his goals.
“ It’s no secret that we’re a bit late to the party, so we will have a bit of a steep learning curve and I don’t expect to start where we finish where we are at the moment, but I’m sure we’ll get there.”
