After a dramatic Race 1 at the Berlin E-Prix, drivers returned to the track for FP3 of the 2026 Formula E World Championship with momentum and pressure building across the field. Nico Müller claimed a breakthrough maiden victory, while several frontrunners endured setbacks in a race defined by strategy, incidents and late drama.

Teams now used FP3 to reset and gather crucial data ahead of the next qualifying session, as conditions continued to evolve. With confidence shifting and the order far from settled, the session offered drivers a final chance to fine-tune their performance.

The focus now turned to who could carry that momentum forward and deliver when it mattered most.

FP3 underway

The drivers headed out onto the track as the green flag waved and began building pace over their warm-up laps. As they started their first push laps, Edoardo Mortara and Taylor Barnard set the early benchmark, moving into the top two spots.

At the back, officials showed Maximilian Günther the black and white flag with an orange disc for a tyre pressure infringement. They placed the DS Penske driver under investigation as he returned to the pits to make adjustments.

In the midfield, Pascal Wehrlein ran in eighth, with Nick Cassidy in tenth and Zane Maloney in 12th. Wehrlein focused on maximising every session after a difficult previous day had dropped him down the order and cost him the championship lead.

Ticktum shows pace

After 10 minutes, Dan Ticktum held his own in P1, using the Formula E Berlin E-Prix FP3 session as a chance to reset after yesterday’s missed opportunities. The Cupra Kiro driver was taken out of Race 1, despite having the speed, so he will be looking to redeem himself and come home with points or more.

Home hero Günther bumped Ticktum from the top spot after a pit stop to add more pressure into his tyres, setting a benchmark of 59.324.

With track conditions improving, Joel Eriksson set the new fastest lap, but it was Felipe Drugovich who quickly beat that time with his full-power lap at 57.720.

Final moments of the Formula Berlin E-Prix FP3 session

Lola Yamaha Abt Formula E Team showed flashes of speed the previous day, as Zane Maloney progressed to the Duels and secured the best starting position of his Formula E World Championship career. He briefly led Race 1 before slipping back, with teammate Lucas di Grassi experiencing a similar drop down the order.

As the session continued, more push laps came in. Nyck de Vries moved to the top of the timesheets before Maximilian Günther responded, reclaiming first place with a 57.642. Following his earlier tyre pressure infringement, officials fined the German €2,500.

In the final 10 minutes, the drivers returned to the pits before Oliver Rowland became the first to head back out on track. He moved into third place as the session resumed.

The field remained incredibly tight, with the top seven drivers covered by less than a tenth of a second. Jake Dennis sat just 0.089 seconds off Günther’s leading time.

As the chequered flag was raised, Mortara was back on top with a 57.581, with both DS Penske drivers, Günther and Barnard behind. Wehrlein and Jean-Éric Vergne round out the top five.
