It’s time for Round 10 in Monaco as the entire Formula E takes the ground for the second race of the weekend. Once again, Dan Ticktum will start from P1 as he became the first ever Formula E driver to take back-to-back pole positions around the streets of the Principality.
Lucas di Grassi was awarded a 20 places grid penalty drop due to changing his MCU after Qualifying. As he is unable to serve it in its entirety, not only he will start from last, but he will also have to serve a ten second stop and go penalty.
Race begins in Monaco!
At the beginning Ticktum manager to hold on to his starting position. However, Mortara and Da Costa made contact right after, with the Mahindra driver going on to secure the lead and the Jaguar man instead plummeting down the order.
Taking advantage of the chaos, Vergne moved up to P2 ahead of the former pole sitter.
By Lap 4, Muller was the first driver to take up the first longer Attack Mode. Vergne tried to close in on Mortara, while Ticktum managed to get by the Citroën man.
Nato hit the wall with the posterior part of his car following contact with Barnard, causing the first yellow flag of the day. Mueller takes the lead with the final part of his Attack Mode, while Mortara is hit with a 10 seconds penalty for his earlier collision.
The DS Penske driver was found at fault for the earlier collision which caused Nato’s retirement from the race. Ultimately, he was awarded 10 seconds of time penalty.
On Lap 10 this was the top 10: Mueller, Mortara, Ticktum, Vergne, Rowland, Evans, Drugovich, Barnard, Martí, Dennis.

Monaco Drame ensured in the Formula E race
Gunther is investigated for making contact with Buemi, as the Penske driver slammed into the side of the experienced Envision man. Ultimately he is awarded 5 seconds of time penalty.
Barnard and Ticktum battle for P7, with the latter on Attack Mode passing by him and Muller. His charge to the front leads him to P3, going by Vergne and Drugovich as well.
At the back of the grid, Wehrlein, Da Costa, Cassidy and Maloney all take up additional power as well. Buemi drops down the order to take up on his second power too.
An unfortunate weekend for several strong contenders
Mortara passes Ticktum for the lead, as Da Costa goes by the Cupra man. A yellow flag is issued on Lap 19, as Martí and Vergne make contact with the wall and each other right at the entrance of the tunnel.
Replays show Wehrlein and Vergne making contact right before the collision with Martí.
Right after, a full course yellow was brought out for removing fragments off the track.
Da Costa tried to take up on the Attack Mode but was unsuccessful.
On Lap 20 Da Costa, Mortara, Rowland, Dennis, Evans, Ticktum Barnard
Günther joins the top ten, as Barnard is awarded another 10 seconds time penalty for causing a collision.
Drugovich with the latest leg of his Attack Mode overtook Da Costa for the final podium position, as Rowland goes by Mortara and his impending penalty. It was a striking move on the outside which rewarded the champion with the top position.
On Lap 24 another yellow flag was issued and removed shortly after. Top ten Rowland Mortara Drugovich Da Costa Evans Barnard Dennis Ticktum Günther De Vries.
On an unfortunate note, Ticktum received a 5 seconds time penalty for overspeeding under yellow flags.
Another yellow flag was caused by Barnard hitting the walls right ahead of the tunnel, as Wehrlein lost his front wing. Replays show him trying to keep up with Evans’s Jaguar, but failing to keep up. A full course yellow was brought out to ensure a safe removal.
Last final racing laps
Ticktum pits, but it is an unfortunate stop. It’s rather slow and plummets him down the standings, ensuring drama and unluckiness in the second Monaco Formula E race.
Rowland enters the last race lap with a strong advantage over Mortara in P2. Ultimately he managed to secure his second win at the race track, ahead of Drugovich. He has secured his first Formula E silverware, alongside Da Costa. Mortara was penalized, dropping down the order to P5.
Nissan’s energy saving strategy ultimately was rewarded with the highest honour possible. Evans remains championship leader, as Rowland climbed up to P2.
