WEC LMGT3 tyre supplier Goodyear has renewed its three-star rating in the FIA Environmental Accreditation Programme, securing the highest possible recognition from motorsport’s governing body, having first achieved the three-star accreditation in 2024. Two years later, the renewal highlights its continued sustainability work across racing operations, tyre development, manufacturing, logistics and trackside activity.

The FIA’s programme gives motorsport and mobility organisations a framework to measure, manage and improve their environmental performance. In Goodyear’s case, the latest assessment recognised clear progress and a structured approach to environmental management.

Goodyear says sustainability now runs through its racing operations

Goodyear Racing Vice-President Xavier Fraipont said the renewed accreditation validates the company’s work across several areas of its motorsport programme.

“Renewing the FIA’s highest standard of environmental accreditation is a strong validation of the progress we have made in embedding sustainability across our racing operations,” commented Fraipont. “Over the past years, we have focused our efforts at every level – from how we design and manufacture our tyres to how we operate at the track.

“Crucially, we are proving there is no trade-off between performance and a more responsible approach – the two go hand-in-hand. Motorsport has always been a driver of innovation, and today, it also plays a key role in advancing more sustainable mobility. We remain fully committed to building upon this progress together with our partners, continuing to push the boundaries of performance and sustainability.”

The FIA assessment also noted Goodyear’s management structure. It highlighted “strong top-management commitment to environmental sustainability” and praised the company’s well-integrated Environmental Management System.

LMGT3 tyre development supports wider sustainability targets

The accreditation renewal comes after Goodyear increased its sustainability work in several areas.

Most notably, the company recently introduced its 2027 generation of EAGLE racing tyres for LMGT3. The new tyres combine improved on-track performance with 66 per cent sustainable materials, while Goodyear has also increased its use of virtual development and simulation.

In addition, its single-specification tyre strategy helps reduce resource use and logistics impact. That approach gives the LMGT3 category a more efficient tyre supply model while still supporting competitive racing.

These developments also sit within Goodyear’s long-term goals. The company aims to transition to 100 per cent renewable energy in manufacturing by 2040 and reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2050.

FIA praises Goodyear’s “measurable, lasting progress”

The FIA recognised Goodyear’s progress as an example of the Environmental Accreditation Programme’s purpose.

“Goodyear’s renewed three-star accreditation reflects exactly the kind of sustained, credible commitment the FIA Environmental Accreditation Programme is designed to recognise,” remarked the governing body’s Senior Circuit Sport Director, Marek Nawarecki. “By embedding sustainability from manufacturing through to trackside operations, Goodyear has demonstrated measurable, lasting progress.”

The renewed three-star rating therefore reinforces Goodyear’s position not only as a tyre supplier, but also as a sustainability partner within international endurance racing.

ACO highlights endurance racing’s role in mobility innovation

Automobile Club de l’Ouest President Pierre Fillon also welcomed the renewal, linking Goodyear’s work to endurance racing’s wider role as a development platform.

“We warmly congratulate Goodyear on the renewal of its FIA Three-Star Environmental Accreditation,” added Fillon. “This achievement reflects the commitment of a major partner of endurance racing, demonstrating that performance and a more responsible approach can progress together.

“Alongside the ACO, Goodyear plays an important role in developing innovative solutions for motorsport. Endurance racing has always been a laboratory for progress and it must remain so, not only in terms of performance, but also in supporting the transformation of mobility. This is the spirit of our collaboration with Goodyear.”

That message reflects the increasing importance of sustainability within the FIA WEC. As endurance racing continues to develop new technologies, suppliers such as Goodyear play a central role in linking performance gains with more responsible practices.

Goodyear builds on FIA WEC sustainability progress

Goodyear’s renewed three-star environmental accreditation marks another step in its wider racing sustainability programme.

Through its LMGT3 tyre development, single-specification approach and focus on manufacturing and logistics improvements, the company continues to use motorsport as a platform for innovation. The latest FIA recognition confirms that those efforts have produced measurable progress.

As Goodyear prepares its next-generation LMGT3 tyres for 2027, it will now aim to build on that progress while continuing to support competitive, high-performance endurance racing.
