Jordyn Martin, Fortec Motorsports’ promising 15-year-old American, launched her 2026 GB4 Championship campaign at Silverstone with an impressive debut. Competing in her first British motorsport weekend, she quickly proved herself competitive in the midfield. Despite the challenges of adapting to a new championship and racing overseas, Martin displayed both skill and consistency while learning the intricacies of UK circuits.
Martin reflects on Qualifying and 2026 Silverstone race weekend highlights
Martin’s debut Qualifying session demonstrated her potential. Securing 14th on the grid, she was only 1.3 seconds off pole position around Silverstone, the longest track of the year. She also emerged as the fastest among the five female drivers and the second-highest rookie, signalling a strong start to her season.
“I was happy with the pace we brought into Qualifying. Although 14th is not where I want to be in the long run, it was a great start to the season. Being competitive was very encouraging, especially in my first GB4 weekend. My main goal is to keep improving in each session and to score as high as I can,” she told GB4.
Throughout the weekend, Martin delivered steady race performances. She achieved her best finish in Race 2, securing 14th, and followed it up with 16th in Race 3. These results highlighted her adaptability and consistency while she continued to learn the nuances of the cars and tracks.
“I really enjoyed the first round at Silverstone. It was an amazing experience and a huge learning step. Every session I learned something new and I can’t wait for the rest of the season.”
Learning and support from Fortec Motorsports
Joining Fortec Motorsports has provided Martin with access to a wealth of technical expertise and a supportive environment, helping her accelerate her development in GB4. The guidance from her experienced teammate, Thomas Ingram Hill, has been particularly valuable.
“Being with Fortec has been more than amazing. Their experience and knowledge is huge, and they’ve helped me develop a lot already. Both technically and mentally. I’m learning so much and I continue to learn every day and every time I’m in the car,” she said to GB4. “Having Thomas as a teammate has helped guide me a lot. He has a lot of experience in GB4, so being able to compare video and data has been a huge help on adapting quicker.”
Balancing life in Florida with racing in the UK presents its own challenges, but Martin credits her family for their unwavering support.
“It can definitely be challenging balancing life in the USA with racing in the UK, especially with travel and time away from home, but having such a supportive family makes a huge difference. They’ve sacrificed a lot to help me chase this opportunity, and I’m very grateful for that.”
Looking ahead: Oulton Park and season goals
Looking forward, Martin is preparing for Oulton Park, a track she enjoyed during pre-season testing. She aims to continue learning while pushing for stronger results throughout the season.
“I’m really looking forward to Oulton Park, it’s one of my favourite tracks, and it’s a very different challenge compared to Silverstone. My targets are to keep improving, continue learning the car, and to fight for the strongest results throughout the weekend.”
Her overall ambitions remain focused on development and gradually closing the gap to the front, combining experience-building with competitive drive.
“My overall targets for the season are to keep developing as a driver and to keep closing the gap to the front. This is my first full season in open-wheel racing, so the focus is on building experience while also pushing for the strongest positions possible.”
