BMW has revealed the latest special livery for the No. 69 BMW M4 GT3 EVO ahead of the 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans, with the design celebrating the manufacturer’s rich history at the legendary endurance event.
The WRT-run LMGT3 entry will carry a retro-inspired colour scheme that pays tribute to BMW’s 1990s Le Mans story. The design draws inspiration from the BMW-powered McLaren F1 GTR, which claimed overall victory at Le Mans in 1995, before BMW later triumphed in its own right with the V12 LMR in 1999.
The No. 69 car, shared by Anthony McIntosh, Dan Harper and Parker Thompson, has already featured several throwback liveries during the FIA World Endurance Championship season. Now, the Le Mans edition adds another chapter to that heritage-focused campaign.
BMW celebrates a defining Le Mans era
The latest design takes its cues from one of the most recognisable periods in 1990s sports car racing. The BMW-engined McLaren F1 GTR stunned the endurance racing world when it won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1995, securing a landmark result for both McLaren and BMW.
That success helped shape BMW’s wider ambitions in top-level sports car racing. Four years later, the German manufacturer returned to the front of the Le Mans field with its own prototype programme and claimed victory with the V12 LMR.
As a result, the No. 69 BMW M4 GT3 EVO will not only honour a famous livery style but also recognise the pathway that connected BMW’s engine success with McLaren to its later achievement as a constructor.
Gulf-inspired colours return to Le Mans
The colour scheme takes inspiration from the Gulf liveries that appeared on McLaren F1 GTRs at Le Mans between 1995 and 1998. That design became closely associated with the car’s endurance racing identity and remains one of the most recognisable looks from the era.
For BMW, the tribute brings together several strands of its Le Mans history. It reflects the bold visual style of the 1990s, while also celebrating the engineering partnership that helped power the McLaren F1 GTR to victory.
McIntosh, who helped instigate the initiative behind the rotating retro liveries, described the latest design as a tribute to a distinctive period in racing.
“It’s a reminder of bold engineering, analog racing, and the brave souls that piloted these beasts,” said McIntosh of the design.

McIntosh initiative continues with another throwback design
The Le Mans livery continues a season-long theme for the No. 69 BMW M4 GT3 EVO. At each WEC round, the car has carried a different retro-inspired design as part of an initiative driven by McIntosh.
Previous looks have included a 1990s DTM Tic Tac-inspired livery and a “Genuine BMW Parts” colour scheme. Therefore, the Le Mans design continues the project’s focus on BMW’s wider motorsport identity while giving the championship’s biggest race a particularly meaningful tribute.
The approach has helped the No. 69 entry stand out across the LMGT3 field, while also linking BMW’s current GT3 programme to some of the marque’s most memorable racing chapters.
No. 69 crew enters Le Mans in strong form
Beyond the visual tribute, McIntosh, Harper and Thompson head to Le Mans with competitive momentum. The trio currently sit third in the LMGT3 standings after a strong start to the FIA World Endurance Championship season.
Their campaign began with victory at Imola, placing them firmly among the early class contenders. Consequently, the 24 Hours of Le Mans provides both a major sporting opportunity and a high-profile stage for BMW’s latest heritage livery.
Ultimately, the No. 69 BMW M4 GT3 EVO will arrive at Le Mans carrying more than a special design. It will carry a visual reminder of BMW’s endurance racing past, from the McLaren F1 GTR’s 1995 breakthrough to the V12 LMR’s overall victory four years later.
