The 2026 Wera Tools F4 British Championship, certified by FIA, returned to Silverstone for one of the most significant weekends of the season, as the Grand Prix circuit hosted the revived BRDC International Trophy.

Just days after a dramatic Snetterton round, British F4 arrived at the Home of British Motor Racing with a record-breaking 32-car entry and another fiercely competitive triple-header. The weekend carried added historic weight, with the Race 3 winner set to become the first recipient of the BRDC International Trophy in more than two decades.

Ultimately, Silverstone delivered three different winners and another major shift in the championship fight. Lewis Wherrell claimed a dominant Race 1 victory for JHR Developments, Joseph Smith bounced back with a superb reverse-grid win for Virtuosi Racing, and George Proudford-Nalder secured his maiden victory in the finale to claim the BRDC International Trophy.

As a result, Wherrell left Silverstone as the new Drivers’ Championship leader on 132 points, nine clear of Dries Van Langendonck. However, Van Langendonck continues to lead the Rookie Cup, while Hitech remains ahead in the Teams’ Championship.

2026 British F4: Silverstone: Race 1: Wherrell dominates as penalties shuffle podium

Race 1 immediately changed the shape of the weekend. Although Proudford-Nalder had started from pole, his race unravelled at the launch, allowing Wherrell to seize the lead and take control.

The JHR Developments driver then delivered a commanding performance at the front. He managed the early phases, handled the pressure after the race interruptions and crossed the line first to continue his superb run of form.

Behind him, the podium changed after post-race penalties. Jeff-Hall and Van Langendonck both crossed the line inside the top three on the road, but penalties dropped them down the order. Therefore, Al Azhari inherited second for Hitech, while Jarrett Clark completed the podium for Virtuosi Racing.

Jüngling finished fourth for JHR Developments, ahead of Palmer and Jeff-Hall. Cameron Nelson added more points for JHR in seventh, while Cash Felber, Chiara Bättig and Scott Kin Lindblom completed the top ten.

Wherrell also claimed the fastest lap, giving him a maximum-style haul and moving him closer to the championship lead.

2026 British F4: Silverstone: Race 2: Smith rebounds with reverse-grid victory

Race 2 gave Smith the perfect chance to respond after his Race 1 retirement, and the Virtuosi Racing driver made full use of it.

Starting from fourth, Smith moved forward quickly and took control of the race. Once ahead, he built enough of a cushion to keep Fortec Motorsport’s Ethan Carney at bay and claim his second victory of the season.

Carney finished second, while Bättig secured third for Hitech. Her podium added another strong result to Hitech’s weekend and came with the fastest lap of the race.

Jüngling finished fourth and took strong Rookie Cup points for JHR, ahead of Jarrett Clark and Proudford-Nalder. Al Azhari and Palmer completed a strong Hitech points haul in seventh and eighth, while Ethan Lennon and Wherrell rounded out the top ten.

The race also brought a major championship twist. Van Langendonck did not start, while Wherrell finished tenth. That allowed the JHR driver to keep applying pressure in the overall standings despite a more limited Race 2 points return.

2026 British F4: Silverstone: Race 3: Proudford-Nalder makes history in Trophy finale

The final race carried the greatest historical significance, with the winner set to receive the revived BRDC International Trophy. Proudford-Nalder started from pole and this time converted the opportunity into a landmark victory.

The Virtuosi Racing driver led the field from the front, but Wherrell quickly became his main threat. After moving into second, the JHR driver began closing the gap and placed sustained pressure on the leader.

The battle reached its peak on the final lap. Wherrell stayed close and attacked, but Proudford-Nalder held firm under pressure. He crossed the line just 0.158s clear to claim his maiden British F4 victory and etch his name onto the BRDC International Trophy.

Palmer completed the podium for Hitech, while Jeff-Hall finished fourth ahead of Van Langendonck. Al Azhari took sixth, with Belofsky, Jüngling, Carney and Felber completing the top ten.

Although Wherrell missed victory by a tiny margin, second place and fastest lap ensured he left Silverstone with the Drivers’ Championship lead.
