Nikola Tsolov moved into the lead of the 2026 F2 Drivers’ Championship after taking victory in the British GP Sprint Race at Silverstone.

The Campos Racing driver entered the Sprint two points behind Gabriele Minì but collected 10 points with victory, while the MP Motorsport driver added eight points for second. Both drivers now sit on 116 points, but Tsolov leads the Championship on countback.

Meanwhile, Rafael Villagómez climbed three positions after finishing third, Kush Maini moved ahead of Laurens van Hoepen, and Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak gained one place after finishing fifth. In the Teams’ Championship, Campos Racing extended its lead, while ART Grand Prix and DAMS Lucas Oil drew level on points.

Tsolov moves into the 2026 F2 Championship lead on countback

Tsolov entered Silverstone trailing Minì by two points after reducing the gap during the Austrian GP Feature Race. However, the Bulgarian produced another decisive result in the Sprint Race at Silverstone.

After starting sixth, Tsolov climbed to third on the opening lap before passing Rafael Villagómez at Stowe for second. He then pressured Minì for the lead and finally moved ahead on the last lap when the Italian locked up into Brooklands.

Victory added 10 points to Tsolov’s total, moving him from 106 to 116. As a result, he moved ahead of Minì in the standings, although the pair remain tied on points before Sunday’s Feature Race.

Minì drops to second despite Sprint Race podium

Minì started from reverse-grid pole and led most of the Sprint Race. However, he came under increasing pressure from Tsolov in the closing stages before losing the lead on the final lap.

Second place still gave Minì eight points, increasing his total from 108 to 116. Nevertheless, Tsolov’s victory means Minì now sits second in the Drivers’ Championship on countback.

The title fight therefore remains finely balanced at the top. Tsolov and Minì are level on points, while Rafael Câmara remains third on 82 after finishing 10th in the Sprint Race.

Câmara and Dunne remain third and fourth

Câmara retained third in the Drivers’ Championship despite missing out on points in the Sprint Race. The Invicta Racing driver remains on 82 points, two ahead of Alexander Dunne.

Dunne also finished outside the points at Silverstone, taking ninth. Therefore, the Rodin Motorsport driver remains fourth on 80 points, keeping the gap to Câmara unchanged at two points.

Noel León also stayed fifth on 62 points after finishing 12th. However, Dino Beganovic closed to within five points after scoring in sixth place and moving from 53 to 57.

Maini moves ahead of van Hoepen

Maini made one of the key moves in the midfield battle. The DAMS Lucas Oil driver finished fourth in the Sprint Race, adding five points and increasing his total from 43 to 48.

That result moved Maini from ninth to eighth in the standings. He now sits level with Martinius Stenshorne, who remains seventh on countback, while van Hoepen drops from eighth to ninth with 47 points.

Ritomo Miyata remains 10th on 30 points after slipping down the order in the Sprint Race. Sebastián Montoya and Oliver Goethe also remain level on 28 points in 11th and 12th respectively.

Inthraphuvasak climbs ahead of Dürksen

Inthraphuvasak continued his recent points-scoring form with fifth place at Silverstone. The ART Grand Prix driver added four points, moving from 23 to 27 and climbing from 14th to 13th.

Joshua Dürksen collected the final point for eighth, increasing his total from 23 to 24. However, Inthraphuvasak’s larger score moved him ahead of the Invicta Racing driver in the standings.

Roman Bilinski also gained one position after finishing seventh. The DAMS Lucas Oil driver moved from 16 to 18 points, overtaking John Bennett for 16th.

Villagómez climbs three places after podium finish

Villagómez delivered the biggest lower-order gain after finishing third in the Sprint Race. The Van Amersfoort Racing driver added six points, increasing his total from 6 to 12.

Consequently, Villagómez climbed from 22nd to 19th. He moved ahead of Cian Shields, Enzo Fittipaldi and Mari Boya, who all remain on 10 points.

Nicolás Varrone remains 18th on 14 points despite receiving a five-second penalty in the Sprint Race, while Colton Herta stays 15th on 20.
