Once the circuit returned to green, Closmenil, Valerio Rinicella, Dillmann and de Gerus each briefly occupied first place. Masson set a 1:48.374 with one minute remaining. Saucy then crossed the line in 1:48.395 for United Autosports, missing pole by only 0.021s.
De Gerus qualified third for Inter Europol Competition, while Doohan placed Nielsen Racing fourth. Dillmann completed the top five in the second Inter Europol car.
Rinicella initially qualified the #18 IDEC Sport Oreca on the second row. However, post-session checks found the car below the minimum weight, resulting in its disqualification from qualifying.

2026 ELMS Le Castellet: Race: Peebles takes opening-lap lead
The #5 Rinaldi Racing Ligier stalled during the second formation lap, forcing the field to complete an additional tour before the start.
Louis Rousset led from pole in the #29 Forestier Racing by Panis Oreca. However, Peebles immediately placed the French driver under pressure in the #22 United Autosports entry.
Peebles passed Rousset at Turn 13 and completed the opening lap in first place. Garg held third for Inter Europol Competition, while Theodor Jensen and Jamie Chadwick occupied fourth and fifth.
Thomas moved TDS Racing into the LMP2 Pro/Am lead, McDonald placed TF Sport first in LMGT3 and Bukhantsov gained two positions to take control of LMP3.
Opening collision brings early Safety Car
Officials called a Virtual Safety Car after an incident involving the #50 Richard Mille AF Corse Ferrari, #77 Proton Competition Porsche and #88 Proton Competition Oreca.
Custodio Toledo’s Ferrari struck the barrier at Turn 10, although he left the car without assistance. The damaged barrier required a full Safety Car period.
Officials later penalised both Proton Competition entries for their involvement.
Following the restart, Matthew Richard Bell passed Bukhantsov at Turn 1 to move Eurointernational into the LMP3 lead. Fabien Michal and Paul Lanchère also overtook the Inter Europol driver.
Peebles controls the opening phase
Peebles extended his advantage after the restart, while Rousset remained second and Garg held third.
TF Sport continued to lead LMGT3 through McDonald. Kurzejewski occupied second for Proton Competition, while Max Moritz ran third for High Class Racing.
United Autosports lost its #23 McLaren when Michael Birch stopped at pit exit. Although he slowly returned to the garage, the team retired the car.
Al-Khelaifi also received a drive-through penalty after contact caused Kimura’s #57 Kessel Racing Ferrari to spin.
In LMP2 Pro/Am, TDS Racing remained in front as Sami Meguetounif created a lead of more than 10 seconds over Fuoco in the #83 AF Corse Oreca.
LMP3 lead changes repeatedly
Eurointernational lost control of LMP3 when Bell slowed at the pit entrance and stopped while blocking the access road. Mechanics pushed the #11 Ligier into its garage before returning it to the race.
R-ace GP inherited first place, but officials then showed the #85 Duqueine a black-and-orange flag for damaged rear bodywork.
Lanchère moved CLX Motorsport ahead before Wyatt Brichacek passed the leading contenders and put DKR Engineering first. However, a cockpit-door problem forced Brichacek back into the pits.
R-ace GP briefly returned to the head of the class, but a 30-second stop-and-go penalty dropped the team down the order. Cubides Olarte consequently moved the #13 Inter Europol Competition Ligier into the lead.
Second neutralisation resets the overall contest
Peebles handed the leading United Autosports Oreca to Saucy with an advantage of approximately 10 seconds.
Officials later deployed another Virtual Safety Car after the #74 Kessel Racing Ferrari suffered a rear-wheel failure and went off at Turn 6. The recovery continued for nearly 25 minutes and left less than one hour of green-flag racing.
Hanley took over the #22 Oreca, while Masson began closing the gap in the pole-sitting Forestier Racing by Panis car.
However, Masson’s challenge ended when the #29 slowed on the circuit. He returned to the pits, but the team retired the car after completing 91 laps.
Hanley survives contact with de Gerus
De Gerus emerged as Hanley’s main challenger during the closing phase and steadily reduced the gap.
The Inter Europol driver drew alongside the United Autosports Oreca at Turn 8 before the two cars made contact and spun.
De Gerus stopped facing the wrong direction, while Hanley completed a full rotation and ended the incident pointing forwards. The United Autosports driver accelerated away without losing first place.
The contact initially dropped the #34 car to fourth, but de Gerus recovered to second before the finish. Hanley completed 112 laps and took the chequered flag 8.569s ahead.
Nielsen Racing inherits LMP2 Pro/Am victory
AF Corse moved ahead in LMP2 Pro/Am during the second half of the race, with Vaxivière holding a narrow advantage in the #83 Oreca.
Charles Milesi ran second for CLX Motorsport, but the #47 made a late fuel stop with fewer than five minutes remaining. That promoted Quinn and Nielsen Racing to second on the road.
Vaxivière crossed the line first in class. However, officials issued AF Corse a drive-through penalty for an infringement under yellow flags and converted it into a post-race time sanction.
The penalty dropped the #83 car to sixth in class. Nielsen Racing therefore inherited victory, ahead of AO by TF and Duqueine Team.
Inter Europol Competition takes LMP3 victory
Cubides Olarte brought the #13 Inter Europol Competition Ligier home first after a race shaped by problems and penalties for several LMP3 leaders.
Bukhantsov, Chou and Cubides Olarte recovered from losing first place following the early Safety Car and capitalised on setbacks for Eurointernational, DKR Engineering and R-ace GP.
M Racing finished 15.440s behind in second, while DKR Engineering completed the podium only 0.266s further back.
Jaubert completes Kessel Racing recovery
Serra kept Kessel Racing in contention before handing the #57 Ferrari to Jaubert for the closing phase.
Jaubert emerged behind Eastwood’s leading TF Sport Corvette and Sargent’s #75 Proton Competition Porsche. He passed Sargent before closing the gap to Eastwood.
After several laps of pressure, Jaubert moved ahead of the Corvette and pulled clear. He crossed the line 17.616s ahead of TF Sport.
GR Racing inherited third after a post-race penalty dropped the #55 Spirit of Race Ferrari to fourth.
