Ugo Ugochukwu doubled his advantage at the top of the 2026 F3 Drivers’ Championship standings after finishing second in the Austrian GP Feature Race.
The Campos Racing driver added 18 points to move onto 78, while Freddie Slater climbed from fourth to second with his third-place finish. Slater now holds 62 points, leaving Ugochukwu with a 16-point advantage after entering the race eight clear of Théophile Naël.
Meanwhile, Feature Race winner Noah Strømsted made the largest gain in the Drivers’ standings. The TRIDENT driver collected 26 points through victory and the fastest lap bonus, jumping seven positions from 13th to sixth. TRIDENT also climbed ahead of Rodin Motorsport into third in the Teams’ Championship.
Ugochukwu doubles his 2026 F3 Championship lead after P2 in Austrian Feature
Ugochukwu entered the Feature Race with 60 points and an eight-point advantage over Naël. After starting alongside polesitter Hiyu Yamakoshi, the American took the lead at Turn 3 on the opening lap.
However, Slater overtook him on Lap 9 before Yamakoshi also moved ahead. Ugochukwu fought back through the second half of the race and reclaimed second from Slater during their final-lap battle, finishing 1.373s behind Strømsted.
Second place added 18 points to Ugochukwu’s total, moving him from 60 to 78. Although he missed the victory, he increased his advantage from eight to 16 points because Naël failed to score and Slater became his nearest challenger.
Slater climbs from fourth to second
Slater made an immediate recovery from his opening-lap retirement in Saturday’s Sprint Race. The TRIDENT driver started fifth and quickly overtook teammate Strømsted and Yamakoshi to move into second. He then passed Ugochukwu for the lead on Lap 9 and remained involved in the victory fight until Strømsted moved ahead with three laps remaining.
Slater eventually lost second to Ugochukwu on the final lap but still collected 15 points for third. His total increased from 47 to 62, lifting him two positions from fourth to second.
The Briton now trails Ugochukwu by 16 points but holds a 10-point advantage over Naël. Slater also leaves Spielberg as the only driver apart from Ugochukwu to have exceeded 60 points.
Strømsted surges seven positions after Feature Race victory
Strømsted delivered the largest movement in the Drivers’ Championship after claiming his first victory of the season. The Dane remained within the leading group throughout the race before capitalising on the battles between Slater, Ugochukwu and Yamakoshi. He passed Slater for the lead with three laps remaining and controlled the final stages to win by 1.373s.
Strømsted also recorded the fastest lap among the top-10 finishers, giving him the additional point alongside the 25 awarded for victory. His 26-point haul increased his total from 15 to 41 and lifted him from 13th to sixth.
He now sits level with fifth-placed Brando Badoer but remains behind the Rodin Motorsport driver on countback. Strømsted holds a four-point advantage over Pedro Clerot in seventh.
Naël and Del Pino lose positions after missing points in 2026 F3 Spielberg Feature Race at the Austrian GP
Naël endured another difficult race after failing to score in Saturday’s Sprint. The Campos driver started from the rear of the grid and recovered to 15th, but he remained outside the points. Therefore, Naël stayed on 52 and dropped from second to third as Slater moved ahead.
Naël now trails Ugochukwu by 26 points and Slater by 10. However, he retains a three-point advantage over Bruno Del Pino.
Del Pino also failed to score after finishing 17th for Van Amersfoort Racing. He remained on 49 points but dropped from third to fourth because of Slater’s podium. Del Pino now sits eight points ahead of Badoer and Strømsted.
Badoer retains fifth on countback
Badoer finished 21st and failed to add to his 41-point total.
Despite Strømsted drawing level through his victory, Badoer retained fifth in the official standings on countback. However, the Rodin driver’s advantage over the Dane has disappeared, while Clerot has closed to within four points.
The battle around fifth has therefore tightened considerably. Only nine points separate Badoer in fifth from Yamakoshi in eighth, while Kato sits another two points behind in ninth.
Clerot climbs to seventh with fourth place
Clerot continued his productive Austrian weekend by following his Sprint Race podium with fourth in the Feature Race. The Rodin Motorsport driver entered the closing laps in the middle of a six-car battle. He overtook Nakamura and Kato during a bold move through the middle sector and crossed the line 3.095s behind Strømsted.
Fourth place earned Clerot 12 points and increased his total from 25 to 37. Consequently, he climbed two positions from ninth to seventh.
Clerot now sits four points behind Badoer and Strømsted, while holding a five-point advantage over Yamakoshi.
Yamakoshi adds six points but slips away from leaders
Yamakoshi earned two points for pole position before collecting four more through eighth place. The Van Amersfoort Racing driver led away from pole but lost first to Ugochukwu at Turn 3. He remained involved in the leading battle and ran as high as second before fading during the closing stages.
His six-point return increased his total from 26 to 32. Although Yamakoshi retained eighth in the Championship, he now trails Clerot by five points and leads Kato by two.
Kato climbs into ninth as Deligny falls four places
Kato added eight points after finishing sixth for ART Grand Prix. The Japanese driver briefly moved into fourth during the final laps before Clerot and Nakamura passed him. Nevertheless, sixth place increased his total from 22 to 30 and lifted him from 10th to ninth.
Kato moved ahead of Enzo Deligny, who finished 12th and remained on 28 points. The Van Amersfoort Racing driver dropped four positions from sixth to 10th after Strømsted, Clerot, Yamakoshi and Kato all added points.
Deligny now trails Kato by two points and holds the same advantage over Sprint Race winner Ernesto Rivera.
Rivera drops from seventh to 11th
Rivera could not build on his maiden F3 victory from Saturday. The Campos Racing driver spun during the opening lap and dropped to the back of the field. Although he continued, he recovered only to 18th and failed to add to his 26 points.
Rivera therefore dropped four positions from seventh to 11th. He remains two points behind Deligny and two ahead of Nakamura.
Despite the decline, Rivera gained 10 points across the Austrian weekend and leaves Spielberg considerably higher than the 11th place he occupied before the Sprint Race.
Nakamura follows Sprint podium with fifth
Nakamura continued his strongest weekend of the season by finishing fifth for Hitech. After taking third in the Sprint Race, the Japanese driver remained involved in the Feature Race’s closing battle and crossed the line only 0.283s ahead of Kato. His fifth-place finish added 10 points to the eight he earned on Saturday.
Nakamura increased his Championship total from 14 to 24 and climbed from 14th to 12th. He now sits two points behind Rivera and four ahead of Gerrard Xie.
His 18-point weekend also moved him 10 points clear of Maciej Gładysz, who retired following an opening-lap collision with Yevan David.
Taponen climbs two positions with seventh
Tuukka Taponen collected six points after finishing seventh for MP Motorsport. The Finn briefly moved ahead of Strømsted after the Virtual Safety Car restart but eventually lost ground during the closely contested lead battle. Nevertheless, seventh increased his total from 12 to 18.
Taponen climbed from 17th to 15th and drew level with James Wharton. However, Wharton remains 14th on countback after his Barcelona Sprint Race victory.
Maciej Gładysz and Alessandro Giusti each dropped one position to 16th and 17th respectively after failing to score.
Lacorte scores first points as Le gains one position
Nicola Lacorte claimed his first points of the season by finishing ninth for DAMS Lucas Oil. The Italian collected two points and climbed three positions from 23rd to 20th. He now sits level with Louis Sharp but holds the higher position through his ninth-place finish.
Kanato Le completed the points-paying positions in 10th. His one-point gain increased his total from two to three and moved him from 20th to 19th.
