Nikita Bedrin strengthened his control of the 2026 GB3 Championship after producing a record-breaking fourth round at the Red Bull Ring.
The VRD Racing driver won Race 1 and Race 2 before charging from 12th to second in the reverse-grid finale. His 97-point haul moved him onto 319 points and extended his championship lead to 106 points. Meanwhile, Lucas Fluxá climbed to second after securing two runner-up finishes and another points result in Austria.
VRD Racing also transformed the Teams’ Championship battle. The team completed a clean sweep of the weekend’s three victories and moved 47 points clear of Rodin Motorsport.
Drivers’ Championship: Bedrin builds 106-point advantage
Bedrin arrived at the Red Bull Ring with a 68-point championship lead and left Austria more than a full race weekend clear of his closest rival.
He started Race 1 from third and immediately moved ahead of pole-sitter Martin Molnar. Bedrin then spent much of the race pressuring Maxim Rehm before completing a bold move around the outside at Turn 6 to secure his fifth victory of the season.
Bedrin controlled Race 2 more comfortably. He led every lap from pole position, recorded the fastest lap and crossed the line 3.458s ahead of Fluxá.
The championship leader then completed his weekend with a remarkable recovery in Race 3. Bedrin avoided the opening-lap incidents and climbed from 12th to second, gaining 10 overtaking bonus points alongside the 17 points awarded for the runner-up position.
As a result, he scored a GB3-era record 97 points across the three races and increased his total from 222 to 319.
Fluxá rises to second as Molnar closes in
Fluxá produced another highly consistent weekend for Xcel Motorsport and moved from third to second in the Drivers’ Championship.
The Spaniard finished second in both of the opening races. Post-race penalties promoted him in Race 1, while an opening-lap pass on Molnar placed him behind Bedrin in Race 2.
Fluxá then recovered from an opening-lap pit visit in Race 3 to finish seventh. His results moved him onto 213 points, although Bedrin’s dominant weekend increased the gap between them to 106.
Molnar also gained a position in the standings after recording three top-four finishes. The Rodin Motorsport driver started Race 1 from pole but dropped behind Rehm and Bedrin before penalties promoted him to third.
He then finished fourth in Race 2 and climbed from 11th to fourth in the reverse-grid finale. Those results moved Molnar onto 206 points, only seven behind Fluxá.
Rehm falls to fourth after difficult finale
Rehm entered the Austrian round as Bedrin’s closest championship rival but dropped to fourth after a mixed weekend.
The German led most of Race 1 after passing Molnar at the start. However, Bedrin overtook him late in the contest, while post-race penalties eventually dropped Rehm to seventh.
He responded with third place in Race 2 after passing Molnar during the closing stages. Nevertheless, his weekend ended on the opening lap of Race 3 when contact with Fluxá sent him across the circuit and into the barriers.
Rehm remains within reach of Fluxá and Molnar on 193 points, but he now trails Bedrin by 126.
Patricio Gonzalez surges into fifth after maiden win
Patricio Gonzalez made the largest move among the leading championship contenders after claiming his maiden GB3 victory.
The VRD Racing driver finished fifth in both Race 1 and Race 2 before starting the finale alongside his brother Rodrigo on the front row.
Patricio made the stronger start and took the lead into Turn 1. He then controlled two Safety Car restarts and resisted Bedrin during the closing laps to secure his breakthrough victory.
His 59-point weekend moved him from seventh to fifth with 146 points. Consequently, Gonzalez now sits 47 points behind Rehm and 22 ahead of Flynn Jackes.
Jackes, Pulling and Lee move ahead of Campbell-Pilling
Jackes climbed to sixth after another strong reverse-grid recovery for Elite Motorsport.
The Filipino driver finished 13th and 14th in the opening two races before charging from 15th to fifth in Race 3. He gained 10 positions in the finale and collected 21 points, lifting his championship total to 124.
Abbi Pulling moved to seventh on 114 points after finishing eighth in Race 1 and sixth in Race 2. However, her weekend ended when she became involved in the opening-lap Race 3 collision.
Kyuho Lee also gained ground and now sits eighth with 108 points. The Elite Motorsport driver finished sixth and ninth in the first two races but lost a potential podium after making contact with Rodrigo Gonzalez during the finale.
Rowan Campbell-Pilling dropped to ninth on 105 points. Track-limits penalties reduced his Race 1 and Race 2 results before the Xcel driver retired in the opening-lap Race 3 accident.
Fairclough completes top 10 after penalty-hit weekend
Deagen Fairclough remains inside the championship top 10, although penalties and a technical issue limited his Red Bull Ring score.
The Hitech driver crossed the line third in Race 1 but dropped to fourth after receiving a post-race sanction.
Fairclough then finished sixth on the road in Race 2. However, repeated track-limits infringements and an unserved drive-through penalty relegated him to 17th.
His car failed to leave the grid before Race 3, which prevented him from starting the finale. Fairclough therefore holds 10th with 102 points, six ahead of absent team-mate Jin Nakamura.

Teams’ Championship: VRD retakes lead after clean sweep
VRD Racing arrived at the Red Bull Ring five points behind Rodin Motorsport but dominated the Austrian round.
Bedrin won the opening two races before Patricio Gonzalez completed the team’s clean sweep in Race 3. Bedrin also finished second in the finale, giving VRD a one-two result.
The team scored 54 points in Race 1, 54 in Race 2 and 48 in Race 3. Consequently, VRD increased its total from 334 to 490 points.
Rodin scored 104 points across the weekend through Molnar, Rehm and Pulling. However, the opening-lap retirements for Rehm and Pulling in Race 3 limited the team’s final score and left it second on 443 points.
Therefore, VRD now leads Rodin by 47 points after trailing by five only one round earlier.
Xcel moves ahead of Hitech in battle for third
Xcel Motorsport climbed from fourth to third after another strong weekend from Fluxá.
His two runner-up finishes contributed heavily to Xcel’s Race 1 and Race 2 scores. Campbell-Pilling and Baptista also added points despite penalties and incidents affecting their results.
Xcel now has 344 points, placing it 30 ahead of Hitech.
Hitech endured a difficult Austrian weekend. Fairclough’s Race 1 fourth place represented the team’s strongest result, while penalties, Nakamura’s absence and Fairclough’s failure to start Race 3 restricted its total to 314 points.
Elite Motorsport remains fifth on 259 after Jackes’ recovery to fifth in the finale and Lee’s points across the opening two races.
Hillspeed and Arden strengthen positions
Hillspeed remains sixth but increased its total to 171 points after placing all three cars inside the top nine in Race 3.
Dante Vinci finished sixth, Aurelia Nobels climbed from 13th to eighth and Peter Bouzinelos recovered from 14th to ninth. Their results gave Hillspeed 25 points in the final race.
Arden Motorsport follows in seventh on 143 points. Leon Wilson produced the team’s standout performance by converting fifth on the grid into his maiden GB3 podium in Race 3.
Fortec Motorsports and Nitrous Competitions ADM Racing did not compete at the Red Bull Ring and remain on 61 and 10 points respectively.

Conclusion: Bedrin and VRD take control before Silverstone
The Red Bull Ring strengthened Bedrin’s position at the top of the Drivers’ Championship and transformed the Teams’ Championship battle.
Bedrin now holds a 106-point advantage after winning six of the opening 11 races. Fluxá has emerged as his closest challenger, while only 20 points separate the Spaniard, Molnar and Rehm from second to fourth.
Meanwhile, VRD converted a five-point deficit into a 47-point lead after winning all three Austrian races. Xcel also moved ahead of Hitech as the fight for third changed hands.
The championship will return to Silverstone for Round 5 on 1-2 August, where Bedrin and VRD will attempt to consolidate their increasingly commanding advantages.
