The 2026 GT World Challenge (GTWC) Australia powered by AWS season continues this weekend, as 15 cars prepare to tackle Queensland Raceway for Round 3 of the Shannons SpeedSeries.

After entertaining opening rounds at Phillip Island and Shell V-Power Motorsport Park, the championship now heads to Queensland with the Pro-Am title battle finely balanced. Reigning champions Broc Feeney and Brad Schumacher still lead the standings in the Kelso Electrical Team MPC Audi R8 LMS EVO II. However, Jayden Ojeda and Paul Lucchitti have cut their advantage to just two points after their victory at The Bend.

Therefore, Queensland Raceway arrives at an important moment in the season. Audi continues to hold the numerical advantage on the grid, Mercedes-AMG carries strong momentum, Ferrari remains firmly in the fight, and Alex Peroni returns to strengthen Team BRM’s Pro-Am challenge. With seven manufacturers represented and both the Pro-Am and Trophy Class battles beginning to take shape, Round 3 promises another decisive chapter in the 2026 campaign.

Title fight heads to Queensland finely poised

Feeney and Schumacher enter the weekend with the championship lead, but their advantage has shrunk. The reigning champions continue to carry the #1 plate aboard the Kelso Electrical Team MPC Audi, and they remain the benchmark pairing after a strong start to their title defence.

However, Ojeda and Lucchitti arrive with momentum. Their victory at The Bend reduced the gap to just two points, and that result placed the #66 Move My Wheels by Tigani Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO firmly into the centre of the title picture.

As a result, Queensland Raceway could prove pivotal. Feeney and Schumacher will aim to reassert control, while Ojeda and Lucchitti will look to turn their recent pace into another major points haul. Behind them, several Pro-Am crews remain close enough to influence the direction of the championship.

Peroni return adds intrigue to Team BRM challenge

Another major storyline comes from Team BRM, where Alex Peroni returns to the #268 Audi R8 LMS EVO II alongside Mark Rosser. Peroni missed the opening rounds while recovering from a broken hand, so his return gives Rosser a valuable boost as the Pro-Am fight intensifies.

Although Peroni has slipped out of realistic overall Pro-Am title contention because of his absence, he can still play an important role in Rosser’s campaign. Team BRM also fields the #88 Wolfbrook Motorsport Audi for Ryan Wood and Steve Brooks, giving the squad two strong Audi entries for the Queensland round.

That return adds another layer to the weekend. Peroni brings speed and experience, while Rosser remains in the hunt for overall honours. Therefore, Team BRM could become one of the most important teams to watch across the two races.

Audi leads the grid with five-car attack

Audi remains the best-represented manufacturer in the field, with five R8 LMS EVO IIs entered across Pro-Am and Trophy. Naturally, the #1 Kelso Electrical Team MPC Audi leads the group, as Feeney and Schumacher continue their title defence from the front.

Melbourne Performance Centre also continues with Valentino Astuti and Darren Currie in the #2 Trading Garage Team MPC Audi. Astuti remains part of the SRO GT Academy conversation, which gives that entry added importance beyond the Pro-Am standings.

In Trophy Class, Matthew Stoupas and Paul Stokell return in the #24 KFC Team MPC Audi. The pair lead the class standings and will aim to extend their advantage at Queensland Raceway. Meanwhile, Team BRM strengthens Audi’s presence further with the #88 Wolfbrook Motorsport entry for Wood and Brooks, as well as the returning #268 car for Peroni and Rosser.

Volante Rosso brings Aston Martin change for home round

Volante Rosso Motorsport heads to Queensland Raceway with a revised Aston Martin line-up for its home round. Cameron Rees will make his GT World Challenge Australia debut in the #14 Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3, replacing the previous pairing of Alex Gardner and Ben Porter.

Rees arrives with strong experience from the Victorian State Circuit Racing Championship. Now, he steps into national GT competition as a solo Trophy Class entry, which gives the Aston Martin programme a fresh storyline for the weekend.

Queensland Raceway will provide a demanding first test. However, Volante Rosso knows the venue well, and that local knowledge could help Rees settle quickly into the championship.

Ferrari trio targets stronger points haul

Ferrari continues with three 296 GT3s at Queensland Raceway, giving the manufacturer another strong presence in Pro-Am. Jaxon Evans and Elliott Schutte lead the Ferrari group in the #26 ARGT entry after a consistent start to the season.

The pair remain firmly in the title conversation, but they now need to convert their pace into bigger points. With Audi and Mercedes-AMG setting the early standard, Queensland Raceway offers ARGT an important chance to close the gap.

Meanwhile, Zagame Autosport continues with Josh Buchan and Cameron Campbell in the #23 Ferrari. The pair have shown promise across the opening rounds and will look for a breakthrough result. OnlyFans Racing also returns with Renee Gracie and Will Davison in the #181 car, as the pair continue to build speed and confidence with the Ferrari platform.

Lamborghini searches for first podium

Wall Racing remains Lamborghini’s sole representative with the #93 Huracan GT3 EVO II for Tony D’Alberto and Adrian Deitz. The experienced pairing have shown encouraging pace during the first two rounds, but they still await their first podium of the season.

Queensland Raceway could offer that opportunity. The Lamborghini has already shown flashes of potential, and D’Alberto’s experience can help Wall Racing maximise the weekend if strategy and race pace come together.

With the Pro-Am field closely matched, a clean qualifying performance will matter. If Wall Racing starts near the front, D’Alberto and Deitz could place themselves in the podium conversation.

McLaren continues with stable Volante Rosso line-up

Volante Rosso Motorsport also brings its McLaren 720S GT3 Evo back to the grid, with Josh Hunt and Geoff Emery continuing in the #15 entry. The unchanged line-up gives the team continuity as it looks to build through the middle phase of the season.

The McLaren has the potential to play a disruptive role in the Pro-Am battle. Hunt and Emery will aim to keep improving across practice and qualifying before targeting a stronger race result.

Mercedes-AMG arrives with momentum after The Bend

Mercedes-AMG heads to Queensland Raceway with strong momentum after the marque won both races at The Bend. Tigani Motorsport once again leads that charge with three Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO entries.

Ojeda and Lucchitti headline the group in the #66 Move My Wheels by Tigani Motorsport Mercedes-AMG. After reducing the championship gap to just two points, they now have a clear chance to challenge Feeney and Schumacher for the lead of the standings.

The #44 Geyer Valmont Racing by Tigani Motorsport entry also arrives with confidence. Brendon Leitch and Sergio Pires will look to build on The Bend, where Pires claimed his maiden GT World Challenge Australia race victory. Meanwhile, the #56 Kollosche AMG by Tigani Motorsport entry features a change, with Justin Tigani replacing Shane Smollen alongside Oscar Targett.

Targett also carries an important subplot into the weekend. He leads the SRO GT Academy standings after a perfect weekend at The Bend, keeping himself on course for the prize of a fully-funded entry into the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa.

  3. #66 Move My Wheels by Tigani Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO – Jayden Ojeda & Paul Lucchitti – Pro-Am

Porsche pair continues Trophy Class push

Tigani Motorsport’s fourth entry gives Porsche its sole place on the Queensland Raceway grid. Luke Youlden and Nathan Halstead return in the #71 AED Consulting by Tigani Motorsport Porsche 911 GT3 R.

The pair have enjoyed a strong start to their Trophy Class campaign and sit third in the standings heading into Round 3. Therefore, Queensland Raceway gives them another chance to close the gap to class leaders Stoupas and Stokell.

Youlden and Halstead will need consistency across both races, especially with the Audi Trophy entry carrying strong early-season form. However, the Porsche crew has already shown enough pace to remain a genuine threat in the class fight.

Anticipation builds for Queensland Raceway

Queensland Raceway arrives at the right time for the championship. Feeney and Schumacher still lead, but Ojeda and Lucchitti have closed the fight to just two points. At the same time, Ferrari remains close, Mercedes-AMG carries winning momentum, and Audi brings the biggest manufacturer presence on the grid.

Beyond the overall Pro-Am battle, the Trophy Class fight also continues to develop. Stoupas and Stokell lead the way, while Youlden and Halstead remain in contention and Rees adds a new Aston Martin storyline on debut.

Therefore, Round 3 should play a major role in shaping the middle phase of the 2026 GTWC Australia powered by AWS season. With 15 cars, seven manufacturers and several championship fights in motion, Queensland Raceway has all the ingredients for another important SpeedSeries weekend.
