Round 4 of the season is finished, view the 2026 IndyCar championship standings after Long Beach as Alex Palou is back on top.
On Sunday afternoon in California, the Spanish driver made it three wins in five to reclaim the points lead from Kyle Kirkwood. The Andretti driver had to settle for P4 on a weekend where he hoped to continue a strong record at Long Beach. Nonetheless, he is the only driver to finish inside the top 5 in all four races held in 2026 to date.
Having both had difficult starts to this campaign, Felix Rosenqvist and Scott Dixon had strong weekends.
The Swede took pole position and controlled the first two stints. Only a caution and a slightly slow stop under it as the field had packed up under it cost him a second IndyCar victory.
A great stop by Chip Ganassi Racing allowed Dixon to jump Malukas, Kirkwood and O’Ward to take P3.
Following a flat tyre that forced an early second stop, Christian Lundgaard finished a disappointing P20, dropping from 3rd to 5th in points. Team Penske’s David Malukas and his Arrow McLaren teammate Pato O’Ward jumped him in the standings.
Behind them, Josef Newgarden, Scott McLaughlin, Scott Dixon, Felix Rosenqvist and Graham Rahal round out the top 10 in points.
Marcus Ericsson and Marcus Armstrong dropped out of the top 10. A hybrid issue for the Swede ended his day early. The New Zealander had a puncture in the closing laps.
