Celo Hahn will make his Euroformula Open debut with BVM Racing at the Hungaroring this weekend.
The 17-year-old Brazilian will drive one of the Italian team’s Dallara 324s while carrying the familiar colours of Blau Motorsport. The appearance will mark Hahn’s first international race weekend after he began competing regularly in Brazilian Formula 4 last season.
Hahn will also become the latest member of his family to compete in the championship. His older brother Christian raced in Euroformula Open between 2017 and 2019, while his father Marcelo currently contests the International GT Open with AF Corse.
Hahn approaches international debut with measured expectations
Hahn will face several new challenges during his first Euroformula appearance. The Dallara 324 offers significantly more performance than the Formula 4 machinery he usually drives, while the Hungaroring’s technical layout demands precision and consistency.
Furthermore, Hahn has only experienced the 4.381-kilometre circuit through simulator running. Therefore, he plans to use the weekend to learn the car, understand the circuit and build experience rather than focus solely on results.
“I’m really excited about this new experience. I’m sure it will be a big challenge for me, driving a faster car than I’m used to on a track I only know from the simulator. The goal at this stage is to get to know the car, live a different experience in motorsport, and gain mileage in different models,” said Celo.
The Hungaroring should provide a demanding introduction. Its flowing middle sector requires drivers to maintain rhythm through several connected corners, while its narrow layout and limited overtaking opportunities increase the importance of qualifying.
Hahn must also adapt quickly to the Dallara’s additional power, downforce and braking performance. However, his ongoing Brazilian F4 campaign gives him a foundation of recent single-seater experience from which to build.
Hahn continues family’s Euroformula connection
The Hungarian round will also carry personal significance for Hahn as he follows his older brother into Euroformula Open.
Christian Hahn competed in the championship across three seasons and claimed multiple podium finishes. Celo remembers watching those appearances and will now experience the series from inside the cockpit.
“I remember watching my brother race a few times, and it’s really cool to be here. Plus, since Euroformula runs alongside GT Open, it’ll be great fun to race here and also cheer on my dad,” said Celo.
The shared Euroformula Open and International GT Open programme will allow two generations of the Hahn family to compete during the same event.
Marcelo Hahn will race an AF Corse Ferrari in the GT Open’s Am category, while Celo begins his first international single-seater weekend with BVM Racing. As a result, the Hungarian event will provide Celo with an opportunity to learn from his own programme while also following his father’s progress.
BVM Racing expands Hungaroring line-up
Hahn’s arrival adds another young driver to BVM Racing’s Euroformula programme.
The team has already introduced several drivers to the championship during the opening rounds, while Javier Herrera, Alessandro Famularo and Divy Nandan have formed the core of its 2026 campaign.
Herrera and Famularo have both claimed victories this season, demonstrating the competitiveness of BVM’s Dallara package. Hahn can therefore draw on an established team structure as he adjusts to the car and the demands of an international event.
The weekend will also give BVM another opportunity to challenge Team Motopark’s numerical advantage. However, Hahn’s immediate focus will remain on gradual development across practice, qualifying and the three races.
Hungaroring begins next stage of Hahn’s development
Hahn’s debut represents an important step beyond the Brazilian racing scene.
Although the weekend will provide a steep learning curve, it will allow him to compare himself against more experienced Euroformula drivers and experience a faster category without committing to immediate result targets.
The combination of a new car, an unfamiliar circuit and international competition should provide valuable preparation for the next stage of his career.
Meanwhile, the presence of his father and the memories of his brother’s Euroformula appearances will give the event added meaning. Hahn will aim to use those family connections as encouragement while beginning his own chapter in the championship.
