Cadillac will introduce further upgrades to the MAC-26 at the 2026 F1 Monaco GP, aiming to drive progress in its inaugural F1 season.
Following the opening rounds of the 2026 F1 season and the extended break between Suzuka and Miami, Cadillac introduced its first major upgrade package at its home GP, with further upgrades at the Canadian GP. As their pursuit of progress continues, the American team will introduce another upgrade at its first Grand Prix on European soil during the 2026 F1 Monaco GP.
Pérez acknowledges Cadillac’s progress after taking a “big step” in Canada
In a preview for the 2026 F1 Monaco GP, published on the team’s website, Cadillac driver Sergio Pérez highlighted the team’s progress, recalling the “big step forward” taken at the Canadian GP, where he was on for an encouraging result before a suspension failure squashed his chances. During its rookie season, Cadillac is experiencing a steep learning curve, as they work towards making progress “step by step,” says Pérez.
“We made a big step forward in Canada. I was able to race in the midfield in the Sprint and the Grand Prix. Of course, there are areas that we need to improve, but Cadillac is still very new. We are learning all the time and making progress together, as a team, step by step, race by race.”
The 2022 F1 Monaco GP winner is looking forward to taking another step at this year’s race around the narrow streets of the principality, which Pérez describes as “extremely challenging.”
“Monaco is unique and extremely challenging, but it is one of my favorite races on the calendar. I love street tracks, and I have really fond memories from my win here in 2022, so hopefully we can continue making progress this weekend.”
Bottas recognizes recent issues as part of the learning curve
Whereas Sergio Pérez was able to showcase Cadillac’s progress with competitive performances in previous rounds, teammate Valtteri Bottas experienced a difficult time at the Canadian GP, where he was last to take the flag. As the team is still in its early stages, Bottas acknowledges that they will encounter hurdles, which he views as “part of the learning process.” He is collaborating with Cadillac to enhance performance throughout the 2026 F1 season.
“It has been a tricky past few races on my side of the garage. We have faced a few issues, but that is to be expected with a brand-new team. It’s all part of the learning process. We know that progress takes time, but the team and I are working really well and very closely together to make those steps forward. Clearly, we are making progress and becoming more competitive session by session, which is exciting.”
Previewing the 2026 F1 Monaco GP, Bottas acknowledged the challenges the track’s unique layout provides, while also sharing his excitement to see how Cadillac will perform on the track he loves to race on.
“It’s no secret that Monaco is challenging, but it’s a place that I love to race. I am excited to see what we can do.”
Cadillac seeks to further progress with upgrades at the 2026 F1 Monaco GP
Echoing the statement of his drivers, Cadillac team principal Graeme Lowdon recalled the progress made by the team in previous rounds that “raised” outside expectations. Cadillac has made steady progress, and Lowdon emphasizes that the team aims to continue improving and “building momentum” for the 2026 F1 Monaco GP and upcoming races.
“For any team, but especially for a brand-new team, Monaco is a massive challenge. We’ve made some notable steps forward in Miami and Montreal, but while Monaco presents opportunities with its unpredictability, our objectives will be the introduction of some further upgrades and to get through the weekend cleanly.
“The fact that we are being measured to the same standards as other teams reflects that expectations are raised, but at just six races into our debut season, our focus remains on progress and building momentum.”
CEO of Cadillac F1 Team Holdings, Dan Towriss, shared the message of continued progress as the team heads into the 2026 F1 Monaco GP weekend.
“Monaco is a milestone — our first race in Europe and one of the toughest weekends of the year. Every race has been a step forward, and that’s the focus here: heads down, do the work, push the rate of progress. We’re excited to get out there and keep building.”
