The National Court of Appeals has finalised the results of the opening 2026 Formula Regional Americas Championship (FRAC) race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) after upholding Stewards Decision 406.
The appeal had placed the Round 9 classification and its associated championship points on hold. However, the court’s decision confirms Christian Bogle’s 30-second penalty for causing a collision and moves him from fourth in the provisional result to eighth.
Officials have now added the Indianapolis Race 1 points to the Drivers’, Masters Cup and Teams’ standings. Consequently, Brady Golan has reduced Evagoras Papasavvas’s championship advantage, while Toney Driver Development has overtaken Crosslink Motorsports for the Teams’ Championship lead.
National Court of Appeals upholds Bogle penalty
The National Court of Appeals delivered its decision on 14 July after reviewing the appeal against Stewards Decision 406.
Dennis Dean led the three-person panel. Dean has more than 40 years of experience in motorsport officiating and has previously served as a Formula 1 steward. FIA International Steward Steve Pence and FIA Steward Dave Hsu joined him.
The panel upheld the original stewards’ decision. Under Article 16.2.1 of the FRAC regulations, the appeal decision remains final and officials can no longer amend the Round 9 classification through that process.
Stewards Decision 406 concerned Bogle’s contact with Kevin Janzen during the opening Indianapolis race. The stewards issued Bogle a drive-through penalty for causing a collision before converting it into a 30-second post-race penalty.
Toney Driver Development appealed the decision, which forced FRAC to keep the classification provisional and exclude every Round 9 score from the championship tables until the court reached its verdict.
Bogle drops from fourth to eighth in official Race 1 classification
Golan retains the Indianapolis Race 1 victory after leading all 23 laps from pole position. Papasavvas remains second following his recovery from 15th on the grid, while Cooper Shipman completes the podium.
However, the confirmed penalty changes the classification behind the leading three.
Bogle crossed the line fourth in the provisional result. His 30-second penalty drops him behind Luke Powers, Kekai Hauanio, Alejandro Bobadilla and James Lawley into eighth.
Powers therefore moves from fifth to fourth, while Hauanio climbs from sixth to fifth. Bobadilla and Lawley advance to sixth and seventh respectively.
Eric Wisniewski remains ninth. Meanwhile, Whitney Strickland moves into 10th and earns the final Drivers’ Championship point.
Harbir Dass falls from 10th to 11th after officials also applied a separate 30-second penalty under Stewards Decision 405 for causing a collision. Anthony Autiello, Janzen and Barrett Wolfe retain their positions behind him.

Papasavvas retains championship lead as Golan closes to 10.5 points
The previous FRAC standings excluded every point from Indianapolis Race 1 while the appeal remained unresolved.
Papasavvas therefore held 142.5 points and a 17.5-point advantage over Golan following the two Sunday races at Indianapolis. The official Race 1 classification adds 18 points to Papasavvas’s total and 25 to Golan’s.
Papasavvas now leads with 160.5 points. However, Golan’s victory reduces the gap between the championship rivals from 17.5 to 10.5 points.
Shipman strengthens third as Hauanio reaches 100.5 points
Shipman adds 15 points through his third-place finish and increases his championship total from 111 to 126.
The Kiwi Motorsport rookie remains third, 24 points behind Golan and 34.5 behind Papasavvas.
Hauanio receives 10 points after his promotion to fifth. The Crosslink Motorsports rookie moves from 90.5 to 100.5 points and strengthens fourth place.
Bogle earns four points despite his penalty and increases his total from 82.5 to 86.5. He remains fifth, 14 points behind Hauanio and 19.5 ahead of Powers.
Powers consolidates sixth as Lawley moves ahead of Dass
Powers adds 12 points through fourth place and moves from 55 to 67 points.
The Toney Driver Development rookie remains sixth but extends his advantage over the drivers immediately behind him.
Lawley gains six points for seventh and increases his total from 34 to 40. Consequently, he moves ahead of Dass and climbs from eighth to seventh in the championship.
Dass does not score after his penalty drops him outside the top 10. He remains on 39 points and falls from seventh to eighth, one point behind Lawley.
Wisniewski and Bobadilla move ahead of Wolfe
Wisniewski adds two points through ninth place and moves from 30 to 32. He climbs from 10th to ninth in the standings.
Bobadilla collects eight points after moving into sixth in the official classification. His total rises from 23 to 31, lifting him from 11th to 10th.
Wolfe fails to score and remains on 30 points. As a result, Wisniewski and Bobadilla both move ahead of him, dropping the Crosslink driver from ninth to 11th.
Strickland earns one point for 10th and increases his Drivers’ Championship total from 11 to 12. He remains 13th behind Aidan Schuh.

Papasavvas continues to lead the Drivers’ Championship, but Golan now sits only 10.5 points behind after securing the full 25 points from his opening Indianapolis victory.
Shipman remains third, while Hauanio becomes the fourth driver to pass 100 points. Lawley, Wisniewski and Bobadilla all gain championship positions following the official classification.
Strickland extends Masters Cup lead
The appeal’s conclusion also allows FRAC to include the Indianapolis Race 1 Masters Cup scores.
Strickland takes the class victory and adds 12 points, increasing his total from 66 to 78.
Janzen receives seven points for third in the class and moves from 46.5 to 53.5. Meanwhile, Autiello adds nine points for second and increases his total from 31 to 40.
The order remains unchanged, but Strickland extends his advantage over Janzen from 19.5 to 24.5 points. Autiello sits another 13.5 points behind in third.

Toney takes Teams’ Championship lead from Crosslink
The confirmed Race 1 points change the leader of the Teams’ Championship.
Crosslink previously held first place with 251 points, seven ahead of Toney on 244. However, those totals excluded the opening Indianapolis race.
Golan contributes 25 points to Toney’s Race 1 total through his victory, while Powers adds 12 through fourth place.
Only a team’s two highest-finishing cars score towards the Teams’ Championship. Therefore, Bogle’s four points do not contribute because Golan and Powers finished ahead of him.
Toney adds 37 points and increases its championship total from 244 to 281.
Papasavvas and Hauanio provide Crosslink’s two scores. Their second and fifth-place finishes earn 18 and 10 points respectively.
Crosslink adds 28 points and moves from 251 to 279. Consequently, Toney overturns its seven-point deficit and takes the championship lead by two points.
Kiwi strengthens third as Hillenburg and Atlantic add points
Shipman provides Kiwi Motorsport with 15 points through his third-place finish.
Dass finishes outside the points after his penalty, so Kiwi’s total increases from 150 to 165. The team remains third, 114 points behind Crosslink.
Wisniewski and Strickland combine for three points, moving Hillenburg Motorsports from 41 to 44. Lawley adds six for Atlantic Racing Team, which increases its total from 34 to 40.
Hillenburg therefore retains fourth place, four points ahead of Atlantic. MLT Motorsports and Momentum Motorsports remain on six and four points respectively.

Toney Driver Development now leads Crosslink Motorsports by two points after Golan and Powers combined for 37 points in the official Indianapolis Race 1 classification.
Meanwhile, Papasavvas retains the Drivers’ Championship lead. However, Golan’s confirmed victory reduces his advantage to 10.5 points and further tightens the fight between the leading two drivers.
The appeal’s conclusion removes the provisional status from Round 9 and establishes the official championship picture following all three races at Indianapolis.
