Jasser Iskander produced his strongest 2026 GB4 Championship weekend to date when the series visited Donington Park last month for Round 3.
The Fox Motorsport driver qualified 10th after avoiding the track-limits infringements that cost several rivals their fastest laps. Although incidents ended his opening two races, Iskander responded with a career-best seventh place and rookie honours in Race 3.
The result gave the 15-year-old valuable experience of fighting further up the order and increased his confidence ahead of GB4’s return to Silverstone.
Iskander takes positives from difficult opening races
Iskander kept his Qualifying laps clean as most of the field lost times for exceeding track limits. Consequently, the Saudi Arabian secured 10th on the grid with his fastest effort.
However, his promising starting position did not lead to a result in Race 1. An incident at Redgate forced him to retire from the opening contest.
Another driver then missed their braking point and hit Iskander from behind in Race 2, ending his race prematurely for the second time that weekend.
Despite those disappointments, Iskander maintained a positive outlook before the final contest.
“I feel good despite a disappointing first two races,” said Iskander to GB4.
He then received an opportunity to recover when the reverse-grid format placed him on pole for Race 3.
Reverse-grid pole brings new challenge
Iskander led the field away from pole and fought hard to keep more experienced drivers behind him.
Although he could not remain in the podium positions, he stayed inside the top seven and secured his best GB4 finish.
“I was happy to start from pole, but [it was] a shame that I couldn’t manage to keep it within the podium at least,” said Iskander. “I’ll take the P7 though.”
Seventh place also made Iskander the highest-finishing rookie in the race. Furthermore, the result added nine points to his championship total and completed an encouraging recovery after his two retirements.
Midfield battle provides valuable lessons
Race 3 gave Iskander the chance to defend against drivers who had regularly competed higher in the standings.
The pressure created a demanding race, but it also allowed him to develop his racecraft and learn how to manage a closely packed field.
“It’s enjoyable but hard, really hard, trying to keep most of the grid behind me,” he admitted. “It’s a great learning experience.”
As a result, Iskander left Donington with greater confidence despite the difficulties he faced earlier in the weekend.
His performance also demonstrated the progress he and Fox Motorsport have made during his rookie campaign.
Iskander targets further gains at Silverstone
GB4 will return to Silverstone at the end of the month for its second visit of the season.
Iskander now hopes to use the experience he gained at Donington to compete in the midfield again and improve on his results from the opening Silverstone round.
“It felt good [to be battling in the midfield],” he said. “Hopefully we can add to that at Silverstone. I feel far more confident now, much more than we were in the first race [there].”
After scoring his best result and earning rookie honours at Donington, Iskander will approach Silverstone with stronger momentum and a clearer understanding of what he needs to challenge further up the order.
