The 2026 Formula Regional Americas Championship (FRAC) delivered a season defined by changing championship leaders, unpredictable race results and closely contested battles across its three classifications. Brady Golan ultimately emerged as Drivers’ Champion for Toney Driver Development, while the organisation also secured the Teams’ Championship following a season-long contest with Crosslink Motorsports.
The championship entered its ninth season with a substantially reshaped grid. Reigning champion Titus Sherlock had departed single-seaters, while several of the previous year’s leading competitors had also moved on. Golan consequently began the campaign as the only returning race winner, although a strong group of newcomers soon demonstrated that experience alone would not determine the championship.
The 2026 championship also featured changes away from the circuit, with the rebranding of the series’ broadcasting operations under Racing America. However, the sporting format remained familiar, with drivers competing in Ligier JS F3 machinery and championship points awarded according to the standard Formula 1 system. Only the two highest-finishing cars from each organisation contributed towards the Teams’ Championship at each race.
Across eight event weekends and 20 completed races, five different drivers representing three teams claimed victories. Golan established himself as the most successful competitor with eight wins, while Evagoras Papasavvas secured five for Crosslink Motorsports. Cooper Shipman and Kekai Hauanio claimed three each, with Luke Powers becoming the fifth winner during the second half of the campaign.
Although Golan ultimately secured the title with one event remaining, the championship remained closely contested for much of the season. Shipman initially led following the opening round at NOLA Motorsports Park before Papasavvas took control at Road America. Golan’s dominant Indianapolis weekend reduced the deficit substantially, and the title lead eventually changed hands at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP).
Golan concluded the season on 298.5 points, 57 ahead of Papasavvas and 64 clear of Shipman. Toney Driver Development secured the Teams’ Championship with 589.5 points, while Crosslink finished second on 558. Meanwhile, Whitney Strickland emerged victorious in the Masters Cup after overcoming a late challenge from Kevin Janzen.
2026 FRAC Round 1: NOLA: Three winners establish an unpredictable championship

The season began at NOLA Motorsports Park with three different winners, immediately demonstrating the competitiveness of the new-look championship.
Papasavvas established himself as an early contender by securing pole position on his FRAC debut for Crosslink Motorsports. His 1:33.626 placed him ahead of a closely matched field, with less than half a second separating the five fastest drivers. However, the opening race took an unexpected turn when contact between Papasavvas and teammate Hauanio compromised both drivers.
Golan capitalised on their difficulties to secure the opening victory for Toney Driver Development. He controlled the race despite an interruption and benefited from post-race penalties affecting several competitors. Teammate Christian Bogle inherited second, while Shipman completed the podium for Kiwi Motorsport.
The second race initially appeared likely to deliver Hauanio’s maiden victory. The Crosslink rookie moved ahead of Shipman and controlled much of the contest, but a mechanical problem prevented him from changing gears during the closing stages. Papasavvas seized the opportunity, completing a final-lap overtake to secure his first FRAC victory. Shipman finished second, with Hauanio salvaging third.
Shipman then completed the weekend by claiming his maiden victory in Race 3. Having managed his tyres effectively during the opening stages, he passed Hauanio and established an advantage exceeding six seconds. The Crosslink driver finished second, while Powers inherited third following penalties affecting Papasavvas and Golan.
The three contrasting races at NOLA established Shipman as the championship’s first leader. His results of third, second and first produced 58 points, 13 ahead of Papasavvas.
Toney Driver Development nevertheless led the Teams’ Championship on 88 points, with Crosslink just four behind. In the Masters Cup, Strickland claimed the opening two victories before reigning champion Anthony Autiello won the finale.

The opening championship standings demonstrated how quickly the title picture could change. Although Golan had claimed the first victory, his inconsistent results left him sixth on 29 points, while Shipman emerged as the early benchmark through consistency.
2026 FRAC Round 2: Road America: Papasavvas takes control in difficult conditions

Road America produced another significant championship change, as Papasavvas claimed the standings lead following a weather-affected weekend.
The Crosslink driver continued his strong qualifying form by securing a second consecutive pole position, beating Golan by 0.153 seconds. However, Golan made the stronger start in Race 1, immediately moving into the lead before controlling the contest through a mid-race restart.
His victory made him the first repeat winner of the season, while Papasavvas recovered from seventh to finish second. Harbir Dass secured his maiden FRAC podium in third for Kiwi Motorsport, providing one of the weekend’s strongest performances.
The second race proved considerably more unpredictable. An unusual starting-grid incident forced officials to abandon the original standing start, while changing weather conditions made the circuit increasingly difficult for drivers using slick tyres.
Papasavvas initially controlled the race, but rain and several incidents forced officials to suspend proceedings. Following the interruption, drivers changed to wet-weather tyres before completing a shortened contest.
Papasavvas resisted Hauanio during the final laps to claim his second victory of the campaign. Shipman initially finished third but received a 30-second penalty for reversing on the grid, promoting Bogle onto the podium.
The difficult conditions resulted in half championship points being awarded. Sunday’s third race was subsequently cancelled because of the continuing poor weather, leaving only two completed races.
The weather-hit Road America weekend significantly changed the standings. Papasavvas moved onto 75.5 points, establishing a 12.5-point advantage over Shipman. Bogle climbed to third, while Hauanio and Golan completed the leading five.
Strickland also continued his strong Masters Cup campaign with two further class victories, including an impressive sixth-place overall finish in the difficult second race.

2026 FRAC Round 3: Mid-Ohio: Hauanio breaks through as Papasavvas strengthens championship lead

The championship continued at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, where Hauanio claimed his maiden FRAC victory before Papasavvas responded with a home win.
Golan began the weekend by setting a new qualifying benchmark, recording a 1:18.066 to secure pole position. The Toney Driver Development driver finished just 0.077 seconds ahead of Papasavvas, while Hauanio qualified third.
However, Hauanio made an exceptional start to Race 1, moving from third into the lead during the opening lap. Papasavvas also passed Golan, giving Crosslink the leading two positions.
Hauanio controlled the race despite a Safety Car interruption, maintaining his advantage through the restart before securing his first FRAC victory by just 0.513 seconds. Papasavvas finished second, while Golan completed the podium.
The second contest initially developed into another close battle between the leading drivers, with Shipman also involved after starting from pole. However, contact between Hauanio and Shipman changed the race, allowing Papasavvas to move into first.
The Crosslink driver subsequently controlled two Safety Car restarts to claim his third victory of the season. Golan finished second, while Bogle inherited third after Dass received a post-race technical penalty for an engine oil level infringement.
The Mid-Ohio double-header consequently strengthened Papasavvas’ championship position. His second place and victory earned 43 points, increasing his total to 118.5 and establishing a 31-point advantage over Golan.
Golan climbed from fifth to second through his two podium finishes, while Shipman slipped to third despite scoring in both races. Bogle and Hauanio completed the top five, separated by only half a point.
The Teams’ Championship also changed hands for the first time. Crosslink’s strong results moved the organisation onto 209.5 points, establishing a 13-point lead over Toney Driver Development.

Although Papasavvas had established the first substantial Drivers’ Championship advantage of the season, the Mid-Ohio standings also highlighted the narrow battle immediately behind him. Only 5.5 points separated Golan in second from Hauanio in fifth.
2026 FRAC Round 4: Indianapolis: Golan completes dominant three-race sweep

Indianapolis Motor Speedway produced the most dominant individual weekend of the 2026 championship, with Golan securing pole position and winning all three races.
The Toney Driver Development driver arrived at Indianapolis 31 points behind Papasavvas, despite having already secured two victories. His inconsistent results at NOLA and Road America had prevented him from taking full advantage of his race-winning pace, but the fourth round transformed his championship challenge.
Golan immediately established himself as the fastest driver during qualifying, securing pole for the opening race. Papasavvas faced a considerably more difficult session after officials deleted all his qualifying times, forcing him to start from the back of the grid.
Despite that setback, the Crosslink driver delivered an impressive recovery to finish second. Golan nevertheless controlled the race from the front, securing his third victory of the season, while Shipman completed the podium.
Sunday’s two races proved equally successful for Golan, although neither victory came without a challenge. Papasavvas remained competitive throughout Race 2 and appeared capable of securing victory before a late Safety Car interruption eliminated his advantage.
Golan capitalised on the restart, passing Papasavvas to claim another win. Shipman completed a remarkable recovery from eighth on the grid, eventually beating Papasavvas in a drag race to the finish line by just 0.216 seconds to secure second.
The final race followed a similar pattern. Golan again used a restart to move ahead, completing his third victory of the weekend and becoming the first driver to sweep an entire FRAC event in 2026.
Papasavvas finished second after another competitive performance, while Hauanio returned to the podium despite an earlier puncture disrupting his race. The finale awarded half points following an interruption.
Golan’s Indianapolis sweep increased his victory total to five and significantly reduced Papasavvas’ championship advantage.
However, an appeal concerning the opening race temporarily prevented its points from being added to the official standings. The original post-round classification therefore showed Papasavvas leading Golan by 17.5 points, with Crosslink retaining the Teams’ Championship lead.
Once the withheld points were included, Papasavvas held 160.5 points to Golan’s 150, reducing their gap to 10.5. Toney Driver Development also moved two points ahead of Crosslink in the Teams’ Championship.

The adjustment subsequently restored the points from that contest, leaving Papasavvas with a much narrower lead and Toney Driver Development in control of the Teams’ Championship heading into the second half.
2026 FRAC Round 5: New Jersey: Three teams share victories as Papasavvas responds

New Jersey Motorsports Park produced another weekend of contrasting fortunes, with Powers, Shipman and Papasavvas securing the three victories.
The championship resumed with Papasavvas leading Golan by 10.5 points following the resolution of the Indianapolis appeal. However, the Crosslink driver’s weekend began with a significant setback when a mechanical problem forced him to retire from the opening race.
Golan initially appeared to have taken full advantage, crossing the line first. However, officials subsequently imposed a five-second penalty for gaining an advantage through a false start, dropping him to fourth.
The decision promoted Powers to victory, delivering the rookie’s first FRAC win and his maiden single-seater triumph. Alejandro Bobadilla also achieved an important breakthrough by securing his first Formula Regional podium, while Bogle completed the top three.
Shipman returned to winning form in Race 2, claiming his second victory of the season. Having endured difficult weekends at Mid-Ohio and Indianapolis, the Kiwi Motorsport driver rediscovered the pace that had carried him to the championship lead after NOLA.
Papasavvas also recovered strongly, finishing second and putting himself back into contention for victory during the final race.
Sunday’s finale subsequently produced another important championship moment. Papasavvas moved ahead of Golan and secured his fourth victory of the campaign, completing an impressive response to his opening-race retirement.
The three different winners at New Jersey reinforced the competitive nature of the championship, with Toney Driver Development, Kiwi Motorsport and Crosslink Motorsports all taking victories.
Papasavvas finished the weekend on 203.5 points, retaining an 8.5-point advantage over Golan. Shipman strengthened third with 159, while Bogle moved ahead of Hauanio into fourth.
In the Teams’ Championship, Toney increased its lead from two to eight points, reaching 374 ahead of Crosslink on 366.

Strickland, meanwhile, strengthened his Masters Cup position after claiming two further class victories.
2026 FRAC Round 6: CTMP: Golan takes championship lead as three drivers share victories

Canadian Tire Motorsport Park delivered one of the most dramatic weekends of the season, with Golan, Hauanio and Papasavvas sharing victories across the three races.
Papasavvas arrived in Canada holding an 8.5-point advantage and immediately demonstrated his pace by securing pole position. However, mechanical problems transformed what had initially appeared to be a promising weekend into a significant championship setback.
Golan made the stronger start in Race 1, moving into the lead before Turn 1 and controlling the contest. The Toney Driver Development driver secured his sixth victory of the campaign, while Powers finished second and Shipman completed the podium.
Papasavvas, meanwhile, suffered a mechanical issue that dropped him towards the rear of the field before a subsequent incident ended his race.
The second contest again proved difficult for the Crosslink driver. Although Papasavvas started from pole and initially led, another mechanical problem forced him out of contention, leaving him without points for a second consecutive race.
Hauanio capitalised on the changing circumstances, recovering from seventh to secure his second victory of the season. Powers claimed another second-place finish, while Golan completed the podium.
The final race provided Papasavvas with an opportunity to recover. After starting fourth, he moved into contention before Hauanio retired and contact between Golan and Shipman reshaped the order.
Papasavvas inherited the lead and controlled the remainder of the contest, claiming his fifth victory of 2026. Powers finished second despite receiving a five-second penalty for a false start, while James Lawley secured his maiden FRAC podium on home soil.
The three winners at CTMP ensured that the weekend continued the championship’s unpredictable pattern. However, Golan emerged with the most important points advantage.
His victory, third place and recovery to eighth in the finale delivered 44 points, increasing his championship total to 239. Papasavvas collected only 25 after two non-scores, leaving Canada on 228.5.
The result represented the decisive change in the Drivers’ Championship lead, with Golan moving 10.5 points ahead.

Strickland also increased his Masters Cup lead to 40.5 points, despite Janzen securing class victories in the opening two races.
2026 FRAC Round 7: VIR: Golan clinches championship as Hauanio and Golan split victories

The penultimate round at VIRginia International Raceway (VIR) proved decisive in determining the 2026 Drivers’ Championship.
Golan arrived holding a 10.5-point advantage over Papasavvas, with four races remaining across the final two weekends. Although the Toney Driver Development driver had established himself as the championship’s leading winner, his advantage remained small enough for Papasavvas to regain control with a strong performance.
Golan began the weekend by securing pole position, but Hauanio immediately demonstrated his competitiveness during Race 1. The Crosslink driver moved into second before spending much of the contest applying pressure to the championship leader.
With approximately five minutes remaining, Hauanio attacked into Turn 1 and completed the decisive overtake when Golan ran slightly wide. He subsequently held on through the final interruption to claim his third victory of the season by 0.288 seconds.
Golan finished second, collecting another 18 points, while the opening race proved disastrous for his closest championship rivals.
Contact between Papasavvas and Shipman at Turn 4 damaged both cars and prevented either driver from scoring, allowing Golan to substantially increase his advantage.
Sunday’s finale initially appeared capable of producing another Hauanio victory. The Crosslink driver maintained the lead, while Papasavvas recovered into contention and briefly moved ahead of Golan for second.
However, Papasavvas subsequently crashed at Turn 12, ending his race and effectively removing the final obstacle to Golan securing the championship.
A late Safety Car created a one-lap shootout, with Golan attacking Hauanio into Turn 1 and completing the decisive move. He crossed the line just 0.281 seconds ahead to secure his seventh victory of the season and mathematically clinch the Drivers’ Championship.
The VIR title decider increased Golan’s total to 282 points, 53.5 ahead of Papasavvas with only 50 still available.
Elsewhere, Aidan Schuh claimed his maiden FRAC podium in the finale, while Janzen completed a sweep of the Masters classification to reduce Strickland’s championship advantage.

The standings after VIR confirmed Golan as champion with one event remaining. However, the Teams’ Championship remained undecided, with Toney and Crosslink separated by 14 points after both organisations scored identical 70-point totals.
The Masters Cup also remained open, although Strickland retained a 16.5-point advantage over Janzen heading into the finale.
2026 FRAC Round 8: Barber: Shipman ends season victorious as Toney secures Teams’ title

Barber Motorsports Park hosted the final event of the 2026 championship, with the Drivers’ title already decided but several important battles still unresolved.
Hauanio began the weekend by securing his first pole position of the season, setting a 1:19.584 to finish 0.231 seconds ahead of Golan. Shipman qualified third, while Papasavvas failed to record a qualifying time and was forced to start the opening race from the rear.
Hauanio maintained the lead when Race 1 began, but an opening-lap incident involving Strickland prompted a Safety Car interruption. The restart gave Golan an opportunity to challenge, and the newly crowned champion completed the decisive overtake at Turn 6 on Lap 5.
Golan controlled the remaining laps to secure his eighth victory of the season, finishing just 0.496 seconds ahead of Hauanio. Shipman completed the podium less than one second behind the winner.
However, the shortened race resulted in half championship points being awarded, significantly influencing the Masters Cup contest.
Strickland’s opening-lap retirement initially appeared capable of giving Janzen an opportunity to close the championship deficit. However, the reduced points allocation meant that Janzen could no longer mathematically overtake the leader, securing Strickland the title before Sunday’s finale.
Shipman subsequently claimed pole position for the final race after recording Saturday’s fastest lap. The Kiwi Motorsport driver converted that advantage into the lead, although Golan and Papasavvas remained involved in an eventful battle behind him.
Contact between the two championship rivals on the opening lap compromised Papasavvas’ race, while Golan later spun attempting to challenge Shipman following a Safety Car restart.
Shipman maintained control and eventually secured his third victory of the campaign. Papasavvas initially recovered to second but received a ten-second penalty following contact with Bogle, dropping him to fifth.
The sanction promoted Bogle to second and Powers to third, delivering the points Toney Driver Development required to secure the Teams’ Championship.
Golan also received a ten-second penalty and finished eighth, although the result had no effect on his championship title.
The official Barber results confirmed Shipman as the final race winner, with Bogle and Powers completing the podium.

Toney Driver Development completed its championship double by defeating Crosslink by 31.5 points, while Strickland claimed the Masters Cup with 148 points, seven ahead of Janzen.
Golan’s journey to the title: From inconsistent contender to dominant champion
Golan entered the 2026 FRAC season with considerable expectations, having been the only returning race winner following the departure of several leading competitors from the previous campaign.
His opening victory at NOLA immediately confirmed his competitiveness, but his championship position after the first round did not reflect that success. Incidents and penalties in the remaining races left him sixth on just 29 points, 29 behind early leader Shipman.
Road America provided another victory, but difficulties during the wet second race prevented him from substantially reducing the deficit. Although Golan became the first repeat winner of 2026, he remained fifth after Round 2.
Mid-Ohio marked the beginning of greater consistency. Pole position and two podium finishes lifted him into second, although Papasavvas had established a 31-point championship advantage.
Indianapolis subsequently transformed his campaign. Golan became the first driver to sweep a race weekend in 2026, combining pole position with three victories. His success reduced Papasavvas’ advantage considerably and placed him firmly in contention entering the second half.
New Jersey proved more complicated, with his Race 1 victory lost through a false-start penalty. Nevertheless, Golan continued collecting points and remained just 8.5 behind Papasavvas after Round 5.
CTMP represented the decisive change. Golan capitalised on his rival’s two mechanical-related non-scores to claim victory and take the championship lead for the first time. Although his own final race was compromised by contact with Shipman, he retained a 10.5-point advantage.
His performances at VIR ultimately secured the title. Second place in the opener and victory in Sunday’s one-lap shootout produced another 43 points, while Papasavvas’ two non-scores eliminated the remaining championship threat.
Golan then added an eighth victory at Barber, completing the season with 298.5 points and 14 podium finishes. His championship was not simply the result of outright speed, but of overcoming an inconsistent beginning and delivering increasingly effective performances as the season progressed.
Papasavvas, Shipman and Hauanio define the chasing pack
Papasavvas emerged as Golan’s closest championship rival after an impressive debut season with Crosslink Motorsports.
The American immediately established his competitiveness through pole position at NOLA before securing his maiden victory in Race 2. His subsequent Road America success moved him into the championship lead, which he retained through the next three rounds.
His home victory at Mid-Ohio established a 31-point advantage, demonstrating the consistency that initially made him the strongest Drivers’ Championship contender.
However, Indianapolis marked the beginning of Golan’s resurgence. Although Papasavvas continued scoring strongly, the gap narrowed significantly before New Jersey.
Papasavvas then endured two particularly difficult late-season weekends. Mechanical problems at CTMP resulted in consecutive non-scores, while incidents at VIR prevented him from adding to his championship total. Although he recovered to win the final race in Canada, the lost points ultimately proved decisive.
He nevertheless completed his rookie season with five victories and second in the championship on 241.5 points, securing both the Vice Champion position and the Rookie title.
Shipman produced a different type of campaign. The reigning F4 U.S. champion began 2026 with exceptional consistency, securing three podiums at NOLA and taking the early championship lead.
Although he subsequently lost ground to Papasavvas and Golan, victories at New Jersey and Barber demonstrated his progress. His final-round success brought him to 234.5 points, leaving him just seven behind Papasavvas and securing third overall.
Hauanio also emerged as one of the championship’s strongest rookies. His maiden victory at Mid-Ohio was followed by further wins at CTMP and VIR, where his battles with Golan produced some of the closest racing of the season. He ultimately finished fourth on 195.5 points, having secured three victories and nine podium finishes.
Together, Papasavvas, Shipman and Hauanio demonstrated the strength of the incoming rookie class, with all three becoming multiple race winners and consistently challenging the more experienced champion.
Toney Driver Development’s path to the Teams’ Championship
Toney Driver Development’s championship success was built on the combined performances of Golan, Bogle and Powers.
The organisation began the season strongly, leading the Teams’ Championship after NOLA and Road America. Golan’s victories provided an important foundation, but Bogle’s consistent points-scoring performances and Powers’ early progress also contributed to the team’s advantage.
Mid-Ohio brought the first significant setback, with Crosslink Motorsports moving ahead following Hauanio’s victory and Papasavvas’ strong results. Toney nevertheless remained within 13 points despite losing the lead.
Indianapolis subsequently reversed the momentum. Golan’s three victories delivered a substantial points haul, while Powers provided important additional scores. Once the withheld Race 1 points were included following an appeal, Toney moved two points ahead of Crosslink.
The team’s advantage remained narrow throughout the second half. New Jersey increased the gap to eight points, with Powers claiming his maiden victory and Bogle contributing further podium finishes.
CTMP widened that lead to 14, helped by Golan’s victory and Powers’ two runner-up finishes. However, Crosslink remained competitive through Hauanio and Papasavvas, preventing Toney from establishing a decisive advantage.
VIR produced identical 70-point hauls for both organisations, leaving the Teams’ Championship undecided heading into Barber.
The finale ultimately rewarded Toney’s depth. Although Golan encountered difficulties in Sunday’s concluding race, Bogle and Powers secured second and third, providing enough points to overcome Crosslink’s challenge.
Toney finished with 589.5 points, 31.5 ahead of Crosslink, while Kiwi Motorsport completed the top three on 357.5.
The championship therefore represented more than Golan’s individual success. Bogle finished fifth in the Drivers’ standings with 176.5 points, while Powers secured sixth on 172 after claiming his maiden victory. Their combined results proved essential to completing the championship double.
Strickland claims Masters Cup after dramatic final challenge
The Masters Cup provided another compelling championship contest, with Strickland eventually securing the title ahead of Janzen and Autiello.
Strickland established himself as the early benchmark, winning the opening two Masters contests at NOLA before adding further victories during the difficult Road America weekend.
His dominance continued at Mid-Ohio, where he maintained his perfect class record across the first seven completed races. That consistency established a substantial advantage over Janzen, who had regularly finished second without being able to close the gap.
Indianapolis finally introduced greater variation, with Strickland, Autiello and Janzen each claiming class victories.
Strickland nevertheless reasserted control at New Jersey, securing two more victories and increasing his championship advantage. By the conclusion of Round 5, he held 111 points, 34.5 ahead of Janzen.
CTMP produced another shift. Janzen claimed victories in the opening two races on home soil before retiring from the finale, allowing Strickland to increase his advantage to 40.5 points with another class victory.
VIR gave Janzen a final opportunity to recover. With Strickland absent, the Crosslink driver won both Masters races and reduced the championship gap to 16.5 points.
The title remained mathematically undecided heading into Barber, where an early retirement for Strickland initially appeared capable of extending the fight.
However, Saturday’s race awarded half points following an interruption, preventing Janzen from collecting enough points to overturn the remaining deficit.
Strickland consequently secured the championship before Sunday’s finale, eventually finishing on 148 points. Janzen won the final Masters race to reach 141, while Autiello completed the top three on 106.
The seven-point final margin reflected a championship in which Strickland dominated the opening half but faced increasingly strong competition as Janzen developed throughout the season.
A competitive Rookie Championship highlights emerging talent
The 2026 FRAC season also demonstrated the strength of the championship’s rookie field, with several newcomers immediately challenging the established competitors.
Papasavvas secured the Rookie Championship after finishing second overall, but his success was only one part of a broader trend.
Shipman entered FRAC as the reigning F4 U.S. champion and immediately adapted to the higher category, securing victory during the opening round and eventually finishing third in the championship.
Hauanio also established himself as a multiple race winner, claiming victories at Mid-Ohio, CTMP and VIR. His performances against Golan, particularly during the penultimate round, demonstrated his ability to challenge the championship’s most successful driver.
Powers represented another important breakthrough. His first FRAC victory came at New Jersey following penalties affecting the original leading finishers, but he subsequently demonstrated that result was supported by genuine competitive pace through multiple podiums at CTMP and Barber.
Further down the field, Dass secured podium finishes and completed the season seventh with 121 points, while Bobadilla finished eighth after combining his FRAC campaign with a championship-winning season in F4 NACAM.
Schuh also made significant progress during the second half, eventually securing his maiden podium at VIR before finishing ninth overall.
The Rookie classification therefore highlighted the success of several drivers progressing through the American junior single-seater system, with Papasavvas, Shipman, Hauanio and Powers all becoming important figures in the overall championship.
Five race winners from three teams shape 2026 FRAC season
The 2026 championship ultimately featured five different overall race winners across its 20 completed races.
Golan’s eight victories made him the most successful competitor, accounting for 40% of the season’s races. His Indianapolis sweep represented the clearest example of individual dominance, although several of his other wins came after closely contested battles and decisive restarts.
Papasavvas followed with five victories, securing success at NOLA, Road America, Mid-Ohio, New Jersey and CTMP. His wins were spread across the first six rounds, demonstrating the consistency that kept him at the front of the championship for much of the season.
Shipman and Hauanio secured three victories each, with their performances spanning different phases of the campaign. Shipman won the opening-round finale before returning to victory at New Jersey and Barber, while Hauanio claimed his maiden triumph at Mid-Ohio before adding wins in Canada and Virginia.
Powers completed the winners’ list with his maiden victory at New Jersey.
Although the victories were distributed among five drivers, only three teams reached the top step. Toney Driver Development secured nine wins through Golan and Powers, Crosslink Motorsports claimed eight through Papasavvas and Hauanio, and Kiwi Motorsport recorded three through Shipman.
The distribution reflected the increasingly competitive battle between Toney and Crosslink, while Kiwi regularly demonstrated its ability to challenge both organisations.
It also highlighted how dramatically momentum could change between rounds. Indianapolis produced a complete sweep for Golan, but New Jersey and CTMP immediately returned to three different winners across three-race weekends.
Three championship leaders and a decisive late-season swing
The progression of the Drivers’ Championship provides one of the clearest illustrations of how the 2026 season developed.
Shipman emerged as the first leader after NOLA, using three podium finishes and his maiden victory to establish an early advantage.
Papasavvas subsequently moved ahead at Road America and remained at the top through Mid-Ohio, Indianapolis and New Jersey. His consistency and five victories made him Golan’s principal championship rival, although the American’s dominance at Indianapolis significantly reduced the margin.
CTMP finally changed the order. Papasavvas’ two non-scores allowed Golan to take the championship lead, overturning an 8.5-point deficit to establish a 10.5-point advantage.
VIR then transformed that narrow margin into a decisive result. With Papasavvas failing to score in either race, Golan’s second place and victory increased his lead to 53.5 points and mathematically secured the title.
Barber provided the final confirmation, with Golan extending his advantage to 57 despite a difficult final race.
The Teams’ Championship followed a different trajectory. Toney led after the opening two rounds before Crosslink moved ahead at Mid-Ohio. The resolution of the Indianapolis appeal restored Toney to first, and the organisation maintained its advantage throughout the final four rounds.
The narrow margins meant the Teams’ Championship remained undecided until Barber, demonstrating the importance of collective performance in a season where both leading organisations regularly challenged for victories.

Golan and Toney Driver Development conclude defining 2026 campaign
The 2026 Formula Regional Americas Championship delivered a compelling season in which the Drivers’, Teams’ and Masters Cup battles developed along different trajectories.
Golan began the year as the only returning race winner, but his championship success was far from immediate. Early inconsistencies left him behind Shipman and Papasavvas, while the latter controlled the standings through much of the first half.
The championship changed dramatically at Indianapolis, where Golan completed his three-race sweep, before mechanical setbacks for Papasavvas at CTMP finally shifted the lead. His subsequent victory at VIR mathematically secured the Drivers’ title, allowing him to conclude the season with an eighth win at Barber.
Toney Driver Development’s success was similarly significant. Although Golan provided the majority of the team’s victories, the contributions of Bogle and Powers proved essential, particularly in the season finale. Their consistency allowed Toney to overcome Crosslink’s strong challenge and secure the Teams’ Championship by 31.5 points.
Elsewhere, Papasavvas completed an impressive rookie campaign as Vice Champion, Shipman secured third after winning the final race, and Hauanio emerged as another multiple winner. Strickland’s Masters Cup success rewarded his early dominance, even as Janzen mounted a late challenge.
Across 20 completed races, the season produced five winners, three championship leaders and multiple decisive moments involving penalties, mechanical problems, changing weather and Safety Car restarts.
Ultimately, the 2026 campaign demonstrated the importance of combining outright speed with consistent execution. Golan and Toney Driver Development achieved that balance more successfully than their rivals, completing a championship double and concluding one of the most competitive recent seasons of Formula Regional Americas racing.
