Evagoras Papasavvas strengthened his 2026 Formula Regional Americas Championship (FRAC) campaign with a standout performance at Road America, securing pole position, a podium finish and victory across a weather-shortened second event weekend.
The Crosslink Motorsports driver showed pace from the start on the longest circuit on the FRAC calendar. Although severe weather forced organisers to cancel Sunday’s final race, Papasavvas still left Wisconsin with major momentum and control of the championship standings.
Papasavvas reflects on a strong 2026 FRAC Road America weekend
Papasavvas entered Road America looking to build on a strong start to the 2026 season. He quickly established himself as one of the drivers to beat, securing pole position for Race 1 and placing Crosslink Motorsports at the front of the field.
However, the opening race immediately tested his recovery skills. Clutch issues at the start cost him the lead and dropped him from first to eighth by Turn 3. Nevertheless, Papasavvas responded with strong race pace and fought his way back through the field to finish second.
After the weekend, Papasavvas highlighted the importance of the result at such a demanding venue.
“It was a really positive weekend for us overall. The team gave me a great car all weekend, and it felt good to come away with both a podium and a win at such a challenging track. Road America is one of the toughest circuits we race at, so getting these results is a big confidence boost as we continue building momentum through the season.”
Race 2 victory lifts Papasavvas to the top
Race 2 delivered the highlight of the weekend for Papasavvas and Crosslink Motorsports. After showing front-running speed throughout the event, he returned to victory lane with a commanding drive to claim the overall win.
The result carried added importance in the championship fight. With the third race cancelled due to severe weather, Papasavvas maximised one of only two scoring opportunities at Road America and converted his pace into a valuable points haul.
Consequently, the former INDY NXT podium finisher moved into the FRAC championship lead, continuing an impressive opening phase of the 2026 season.
Crosslink Motorsports gains momentum
Papasavvas’ Road America performance also reinforced Crosslink Motorsports’ early-season strength. The team gave him a competitive car across qualifying and both races, allowing him to fight at the front despite the challenges created by changing conditions and the shortened schedule.
Moreover, his ability to recover from a difficult Race 1 start and then win Race 2 underlined the consistency needed to challenge for the title. Rather than relying only on outright speed, Papasavvas combined pace, composure and racecraft across the weekend.
Mid-Ohio now awaits
Papasavvas will now shift his focus to Rounds 7-9 of the FRAC season at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, scheduled for June 11-14.
With a podium, a victory and the championship lead secured at Road America, Papasavvas heads into the next event with clear momentum. However, the season remains in its early stages, and the Mid-Ohio triple-header will offer another major opportunity for rivals to respond.
For now, Papasavvas has placed himself at the centre of the 2026 FRAC title fight.
