Luke Hilton and Demitri Nolan became the latest drivers to enter the 2026 George Russell Pole Position Cup standings after claiming their first GB4 pole positions at Donington Park.
Nitrous Competitions ADM Racing driver Hilton secured pole for the opening contest, while Hillspeed’s Nolan earned the leading grid position for Race 2.
The pair each received £150 and a trophy as part of the Pole Position Cup awards presented throughout the GB4 season.
Hilton converts first pole into breakthrough victory
Hilton was awarded the Race 1 pole position following the publication of an amended qualifying classification on Saturday. The result offered the British driver some compensation after he had lost two potential pole positions during the opening round at Silverstone.
Hilton made full use of his first confirmed start from the front of a GB4 grid. He controlled the opening race at Donington Park to secure his maiden victory in the championship and begin moving back towards the leading Drivers’ Championship contenders.
The result formed part of a strong weekend for the Nitrous Competitions ADM Racing driver, who finished on the podium in all three races.
His Donington performance also represented a significant response after a challenging start to the campaign had prevented him from converting his early-season qualifying speed into the expected results.
Nolan earns maiden GB4 pole for Race 2
Nolan also joined the Pole Position Cup standings after being promoted to the front of the Race 2 grid. The Hillspeed driver therefore secured his first pole position since joining GB4 at the beginning of the 2026 season.
However, Nolan was unable to convert the opportunity into a strong race result. Rear-wing damage forced him to retire from the contest despite starting from the front.
The setback did not prevent Nolan from recording his highest overall points score from a GB4 weekend so far. His performances across the three Donington races demonstrated further progress during his first campaign in the championship.
Green retains Pole Position Cup lead
Despite the arrival of two new winners, Fred Green remains at the top of the George Russell Pole Position Cup standings. The Elite Motorsport driver has claimed three pole positions across the opening three rounds and holds a two-pole advantage over his nearest rivals.
Alex O’Grady, Hilton and Nolan have each recorded one pole position, leaving three drivers tied for second.
The driver with the most poles at the end of the season will receive the George Russell Pole Position Cup and an additional £1,000 prize. The winning driver’s team will also receive the David Poole Warren Pole Position Cup and a further £1,000.
Awards are presented at each round by John Cavill, who has supported drivers competing in MotorSport Vision championships since 2013. Cavill has also assisted several drivers beyond those series, including contenders who have progressed to become prominent names in motorsport.
2026 George Russell Pole Position Cup standings after Donington Park
- Fred Green – 3 poles
- Alex O’Grady – 1 pole
= Luke Hilton – 1 pole
= Demitri Nolan – 1 pole
Green therefore continues to control the Pole Position Cup contest, but the Donington Park qualifying results have increased the number of drivers involved.
Hilton and Nolan will now aim to build on their first poles when the GB4 season continues at Silverstone.
