In the high-octane world of motorsport, few stories are as unique as that of the Felber twins. From their earliest encounters with go-karts to competing in F4 and chasing the dream of F1, extraordinary talent and an unbreakable bond have defined the Felber twins’ journey. Their story is not just about racing; it is about family, rivalry, collaboration, and the relentless pursuit of excellence.
In an exclusive interview with Pit Debrief, Cash and Roman Felber opened up about their inspirations, development, and ambitions, providing an intimate look at how they navigate the pressures of competition while nurturing a shared journey. They reflected on the figures who have shaped their approach, the lessons learned from motorsport icons, and how they balance individual identity with a partnership that constantly pushes them to improve.
Inspirations behind the journey to F1: the Felber twins’ on lessons from motorsport icons
From the very start of their journey, the Felber twins have admired drivers who combine raw speed with intelligence, aggression with composure. For Cash and Roman, racing is not simply about performance; it is about cultivating a mindset that allows them to remain consistent under pressure, adapt to rapidly changing conditions, and maintain focus while pushing the limits of their machinery.
Some of motorsport’s finest talents have shaped their approach, influencing both how they drive and how they prepare behind the scenes. The twins gravitate toward drivers who master the delicate balance between control and aggression, taking lessons that extend far beyond the track and into the discipline, preparation, and mindset required to succeed at the highest level.
Roman Felber learning from Piastri’s composure under pressure
When asked about his primary inspiration, Roman pointed to Australian Oscar Piastri, the 2020 FIA Formula 3 champion who followed it with the 2021 FIA Formula 2 title before making the leap into Formula 1. In his third season, Piastri finished third in the World Drivers’ Championship after a tight championship battle with teammate Lando Norris and Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen, scoring an impressive 410 points. For Roman, Piastri exemplifies composure under pressure and a calculated approach to every race.
“Honestly, I’d say Oscar Piastri. If you ask me, he’s calm, but he’s aggressive and calm. He’s very situated, and he has it all set up. He’s just calm, calculated, but he’s aggressive, and he doesn’t get overheated when things don’t go his way.”
Cash Felber inspired by Verstappen’s blend of on-track aggression and off-track discipline
Meanwhile, Cash draws inspiration from four-time World Champion Max Verstappen, who made history as the youngest F1 race winner at the 2016 Spanish Grand Prix and has since achieved 71 career victories, including a record-breaking 19 wins in 2023. For Cash, Verstappen represents a fusion of on-track aggression and off-track discipline, highlighting the importance of collaboration and preparation in achieving sustained success.
“I think Max Verstappen, because he’s just straight-up aggressive on track. And I guess his mindset off the track is different than on the track. So I think a lot of people judge him for how he is on the track, but they don’t see what goes on behind the scenes. But I think I like how he works behind the scenes too. He works really well with, like, engineers and everything, as you’re seeing with, like, his GT3 programme and everything.”
By studying these drivers, the Felber twins aim to blend aggression with control, maintaining focus under pressure while continuously improving their skills, both on and off the circuit.
Lessons from motorsport history
Beyond contemporary idols, the Felber twins also look to the rich history of motorsport for inspiration, studying legendary rivalries and sibling dynamics that have shaped the sport over decades. These examples provide more than just excitement—they offer practical lessons in managing pressure, maintaining consistency, and harnessing competitive instincts effectively.
“Just aggression and consistency sometimes,” Roman highlighted when asked about the lessons he draws from the rivalries of Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna, and especially the Schumacher brothers, Michael and Ralf. Cash agreed: “Yeah, probably the same thing Roman said.”
Both twins have watched and analysed races from Senna and Schumacher, focusing not only on their driving styles but also on mastering challenging conditions. One of the biggest takeaways has been excelling in the wet—a skill they have prioritised and honed in testing. Their progress is evident, as they often rank among the top three fastest drivers on track during wet sessions.
For Cash and Roman, these historical influences reinforce a dual principle: success requires both relentless competitiveness and unwavering consistency. The stories of iconic rivalries, whether between teammates, adversaries, or siblings, show how carefully balancing aggression with calculated control can define careers and legacies.
By studying the greats, applying their lessons to modern circuits, and pushing themselves in challenging conditions, the Felber twins continue to translate the wisdom of motorsport history into measurable performance gains, both on dry tracks and in the wet.

The Felber twins on chasing F1 while exploring multiple paths
With Formula 1 as their ultimate goal, the Felber twins also recognise the value of exploring diverse opportunities across motorsport, including GT and endurance racing. For them, gaining experience beyond single-seaters complements their F1 ambitions and develops adaptability—a key trait for any driver aiming for the pinnacle of the sport.
“I’d like to be focused on F1,” Roman said when asked about his career approach. “But I’m into, like, GTs and stuff like that, it’s pretty cool too, you know? Like, I want to chase after F1, and, depending on how it goes, GTs are cool too.”
Cash echoed this, highlighting that while F1 remains the ultimate focus, he is open to other pathways, including GT racing and IndyCar, should opportunities arise.
“Obviously, F1 is the goal, the dream. So I’m fully focused on F1. But I guess my backup option would be, if I have an opportunity, definitely then do GTs, because I love endurance racing, or IndyCar is pretty cool too. IndyCar is pretty sick.”
Navigating competitive realities
Despite their shared goal and their shared journeys towards it, the twins are acutely aware of the competitive realities inherent in the sport, including the possibility of competing directly for the same seat in the future. However, rather than overthinking any hypothetical scenarios, they have adopted a pragmatic mindset, trusting themselves to handle challenges as they arise.
“Depends what the team is, I guess. I mean, honestly, if it’s just for one seat, hopefully that never arises. Hopefully that never happens. But I don’t really know how I’d handle it. I haven’t really thought about it or prepared for it. But, unknown for right now. I guess if it happens, I’ll walk the hand of it as it happens. I haven’t really thought about it,” Cash explained with Roman’s emphatic agreement.

A long-term vision
Looking ahead, both Felber twins see their near-future ambitions centred firmly on F1, while remaining open to opportunities in GT and endurance racing to broaden their experience. This combination of focused aspiration and strategic flexibility allows them to chase their F1 dream while preparing for alternative pathways that enhance their versatility as drivers.
“Five years from now, F1. Yeah, F1, because I’d be 20. But I would say, I make it to F1. Maybe after that, GTs, you know, like WEC, endurance racing, IMSA would be cool,” said Cash, noting that this timeline depends on seats opening up. Roman agreed: “Same thing as him.”
Their approach reflects a thoughtful balance between ambition and adaptability, demonstrating a commitment not only to short-term success but to long-term growth within motorsport. Equally important is how they wish to be remembered within the sport. Their reflections reveal a grounded mindset, valuing character alongside achievement.
“Cool, chill. How would I like to be remembered? It’s a difficult question,” Cash said, with Roman’s agreement.
However, Cash and Roman want the sport to remember them as more than just drivers. Beyond their personalities, they hope their legacy reflects a contribution to the sport—helping young drivers as they progress up the ladder and inspiring the next generation to pursue racing.
By combining long-term ambition with a desire to give back, the Felber twins illustrate a maturity beyond their years. Their focus is not just on what they achieve on track, but on the positive impact they can have off it—shaping future talent and leaving a meaningful mark on motorsport.

While F1 remains their ultimate goal, they remain open to GT and endurance racing, knowing every experience makes them better drivers. Cool, focused, and grounded, the twins combine talent with thoughtfulness, aggression with composure, and competition with camaraderie.
Ultimately, their story is about forging identities, embracing challenges, and approaching every lap as a step toward their dream—with determination, humility, and a shared passion that drives them forward.
